Publisher's summary

Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet - which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together - if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow.

But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia’s handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more - or possibly less - than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him….

Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him - and everyone - from his own fate? Find out what’s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

Atrocious narrator

Would you listen to Destined again? Why?

I would not listen to Destined again. The language was awful - I get that it is supposed to be teens and they don't have the most sophisticated language but come on. Kramisha is the absolute worst - the narrator made her sound like an uneducated pre-Civil War slave. Just knock it off already. I cringed every time she spoke. I think the writers were shooting for a person with hip hop vibe but she just sounded like an idiot. Instead of sounding fresh and relevant to today's pop culture - she sounded stupid and uneducated. Another one that annoyed me by sounding vulgar and uneducated was Aphrodite. Her dark wit in prior books was funny but grated on me throughout this book. Her use of

What did you like best about this story?

I keep coming back for the characters and because I want to know how things turn out. I like the story but agree with many reviewers who want some closure on old storylines and fresh content instead of the same old recycled crap.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance could have been better with a different narrator. Caitlin Davies is awful in this series. The original narrator was the best out of all of them. At the very least the director should have all narrators pronounce the names the same way. Pick one pronunciation and STICK with it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No way I could listen to this straight through. I had to keep taking breaks because the narrator was bugging me so much.

Well done

Would you consider the audio edition of Destined to be better than the print version?

No, because with human reading there is always going to be some measure of differing in pronunciation and emotion. This reader did a very good job in my opinion. But she does occasionally pronounce things in a strange way, and seems to put the wrong emotional emphasis on some things. Over all though she does a good job. I don't feel that it is fair to judge her harshly based on reading differently than I do.

What did you like best about this story?

I like that the authors mixed up the reactions of the main characters, and no longer is Zoey miss goodie two shoes, whining and constantly crying.. they left the story off on a line of making the reader feel they have to read the next book whether or not they even liked the story.

What about Caitlin Davies’s performance did you like?

My favorite part about Caitlin Davies' performance is her portrayal of Neferet... I feel like she is spot on with her voice and inflection!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did tear up a bit when Nicole and Stevie Ray had their talk.

Any additional comments?

To the people that are complaining about her portrayal of Kramesha, she read it exactly as it is written in the books. If you are going to complain about her making Kramesha sound too "ghetto" perhaps you should read the actual books before you throw a fit. Caitlin read her EXACTLY as she is written...EXACTLY.

I was a little disappointed with the last book, but this one totally makes up for it. I can't say anymore or I will give too much away!!

Loosing interest

Is there anything you would change about this book?

well the story have slowly been getting less interesting over the last couple of books...
probably because it's been getting more predictable as P.C. Cast have lock herself into several storylines and now she doesn't feel like starting others till these are finishing up...

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

unfourtunately i saw it coming from about the middle of the books

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

unfourtunately i've listened to a different narrator of previous books in the series which means this just isn't the same

Did Destined inspire you to do anything?

not really...
not anything i didn't start thinking from the previous books atleast...

Any additional comments?

good entertainment for the money and i wouldn't stop reading the series even though it's slowed down with this one...

Destined to keep you guessing...

Sometimes cliff hangers are a real pain & sometimes they are used appropriately. After reading Destined, you'll see that the latter is true for this book. Even though the 1st books in this series were the best, I like the way the story is forming & I can *gasp* see a possible end in sight! Then hopefully all of my cliff hanger questions will be answered. The narrator to these books is not my favorite, mainly because of how long it takes certain characters to complete a sentence but other than that it was a good book. I would say its probably worthy to take up space on the "2nd shelf" of your wishlist.

Loved It!

It was worth the wait! The only bad thing is that I have to wait a year for the next book! This book had me crying and biting my nails with anticipation. I loved it! It leaves you hanging and eagerly waiting on the next book in the series.
