The epic new thriller begins.
The creator of the number one best-selling Skulduggery Pleasant series returns with the story of a girl on the run from everything she loves...and the monsters that await her.
For anyone who ever thought their parents were monster...Amber Lamont is a normal 16-year-old. Smart but insecure, she spends most of her time online, where she can avoid her beautiful, aloof parents and their weird friends.
But when a shocking encounter reveals a horrifying secret, Amber is forced to go on the run. Killer cars, vampires, undead serial killers and red skinned, horned demons - Amber hurtles from one threat to the next, revealing the terror woven into the very fabric of her life. As her parents close in behind her, Amber’s only chance rests with her fellow travellers, who are not at all what they appear to be....
Witty, action-packed and heart stoppingly thrilling, Demon Road will take you on an epic road trip across the supernatural landscape of America.
What made the experience of listening to Demon Road the most enjoyable?
The storyline and one particular character.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Demon Road?
I can't say anything about that because it would give away too much.
What about Kathryn Griffiths’s performance did you like?
I liked that she could do a pretty good Irish accent.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
'Always keep your eyes on the road!'

I'll be honest I struggled to get into in the first 30 minutes, cos the narrator was so monotone and I had push myself to listen to it. I'm glad I did as the story unraveled so did the narrators voice tones and her accents were decent. The story it's self is a bit gruesome, but you get into and before you know it you're rooting for the protagonist. My advice commitment, which is the key to this book, as parts in the story lag. Overall I enjoyed it.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Add more humour and change narrator.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I preordered this title because anything Derek Landy writes is a treat but this was disappointing. It lacked the humour of a lot of his writing and at times I checked how much longer there was to go. Not a good sign!
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kathryn Griffiths?
Possibly. Her dialogue was brilliant. Characterisations very convincing. Sadly, the narrative passages showed the strain and just sounded gloomy, even when they shouldn't have been.
Did Demon Road inspire you to do anything?
Just mourn the end of Landy's Skulduggery series.
Any additional comments?
Could have been so much better. Obviously the start of a new series but the end just made me feel 'is that it?' As opposed to 'I can't wait for the next one'.
