Publisher's Summary

Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Magic is dangerous – but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa’s power for his own. Clockwork Angel, Book 1 in The Infernal Devices series. A prequel to the best-selling Mortal Instruments series.

It had me not wanting to put it down. I loved Jems character the most.

Lovely performance. Great plot.

I loved the story. Perhaps some characters overdid it but good nonetheless. Plot was interesting too.

Awful Narration

A good story, especially if you like the shadowhunter books; but the narrator was irritating especially with her English accents, her Yorkshire one is terrible. Totally ruined it for me.

I don't like

I didn't like the way somethings where changed or left out of the Audible, for instance Wills parents! in the book, Chapter 20, Jem tells Tessa the his parents like hers and jessie's are dead, (Wills Might As Well Be) a reference to his parents not being Dead. but in the Audible Jem says that his Jessie and Wills parents are all dead, this is just not simply ture.

painfully predictable formulaic writing

Makes me sad how many people can give this rubbish a high rating. Cringe. Clever plot twists? Nononononono ... Poorly thought out & random

A good writer as an elegant top line story that's griping, and typically easy to understand, keeps the reader turning pages, and depth and layers which awesomeness is somehow grasped by everyone even though they don't necessarily understand it in depth.

This is not that.

Not as good as The Mortal Instruments series

This book wasn't bad, but it was no where near as good as the Mortal Instruments series. The plot was a bit too predictable and the characters weren't as engaging, although they might grow on me in time. The narration probably made the biggest difference. I found many of the accents over the top and grating- perhaps it would have been better to get a British narrator since the majority of the characters were British.

Couldn't stop listening!

Absolutely brilliant! Clare's talent takes you into a whole other world, only to be encouraged by the great voice talent. I've read this book before, but listening to it added a whole new depth to characters I hadn't explored before.
