Publisher's summary

Losing your ability to speak at the age of 17; it's not normal or fair. But trauma has a way of throwing normality out the window. Dani lives anything but a normal life: her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood, her best friends are rock stars, and she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime. But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead, or that it's her fault. It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside. That is until Hollywood's newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer. He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable. But that doesn't stop her from wondering, if things were different, would he want her? If she was whole, would he be the other half?

Great story

I enjoyed the story around these two. Definitely need to read the seaside series. It refers to those characters so much. This is a good young adult book because the steamy parts are non existent but it didnt take away from the love story of a girl that survived a traumatic loss and a Hollywood heart throb.

Not bad but...

I've listened to a couple of this author's books and I have to dock points for the simple fact she re-writes the same main female character over and over, even when they exist in the same town and are friends with the ones from previous books. Which makes her books gradually less entertaining and more frustrating as the characters react the same way to similar situations.

As for this book specifically, it's entertaining, didn't inspire a lot of emotion in me but it was fun to listen to, the drama between the two leads was there but it was diffused in a relatively realistic manner and pace, which is rare and I enjoyed a lot. Listening to characters fight for 80% of a book over a simple misunderstanding that would be resolved in minutes in reality is maddening.

Good Story but some might get hung up on age

The H is 22 and the h is 17 (a month from 18) when the instant attraction begins. A lot of focus is put on age and in this case, it was overblown. If she was 15 or just turned 16, that would be different. If having a main character being 17.9 years old bothers you, please avoid all Disney Princess Movies!

Love the Seaside Series

Love the Seaside series, but I really don't care for the male narrator. He is nasally & doesn't sound like a sexy male protag to me. Throwing me off every time his chapters were read.

Dani and Linc

First, let me say I love how RVD writes stories that can make you laugh, cry and understand some pretty emotional stuff people go through, without it becoming a book you look back on and say, "I don't think I can emotionally handle a re-read/listen of that one today". I read or listen to audiobooks daily (it's an obsession) and I can honestly say she is in a very elite group of a very few authors who I have found have this talent.

This story is about Dani, who lost her parents in a car accident while she was in the car with them at the time. The mental and emotional trauma of this causes her to lose her ability to speak. She only communicates with her sister and friends by text. As a way to help pull her back out of her shell a bit, her sister Pris sets her up to be a personal assistant on set for Linc, a famous actor who Pris is starring alongside. Linc is a total sweetheart and plays a crucial roll in her recovery.

Both narrators do an excellent job by keeping you engaged in the story, as well as giving the many characters distinct voices so that you aren't lead to wonder which character is speaking.

Captured Muted Hearts

I really enjoyed this story between Dani and Linc. Two hearts needing the other for very different reasons. They both got each other to open up about their past even if it was through texting at first. Love the side characters as well. Looking forward to listening to more on Seaside.

Humor, heat and all the feels!

Rachel Van Dyken’s Seaside and Seaside Pictures Series have been on my TBR forever and I am SO glad I finally invested the time! I ADORE Rachel’s writing. These books have it all! Humor, heat and all the feels! We met Dani at the end of Fall. Her sister is married to famous Hollywood actor, Jaymeson. She has suffered a terrible trauma and is unable to speak. Until she meets Linc and he turns her world upside down with every look and every interaction. He slowly breaks her down and she opens up to him. Their chemistry and connection was intense, and full of heat and emotion. I fell for Linc immediately. He is funny, charming, sexy and loving. He was drawn to Dani from the moment they met and he had me in giggles with his quick wit and loving banter towards her. The two have a few obstacles to overcome but what is a good romance novel without a bit of conflict to navigate. I loved Dani’s strength! I can’t wait for Zane’s book next! 5 STARS!

This is actually a sequel to the Seaside Series

Story follows the year following Jamison and Priscilla’s story. It is better understood if you listen to that story first though there are also the earlier stories of Demetri and Alex. This story has some of the same character development as Jamison and Priscilla though they have different issues and they are both a year younger. It is a sweet story of family and friends assisting each other through tough times plus a hot romance of a megastar and a celebrity sibling. While the issues are dealt with the problem of noisy reporters and popps is ignored. Maybe it will be addressed in Zane’s book. All these characters are very young and it seems the males all came from disfunctional families while the females had stable if occasionally problematic upbringings so while there are HEAs it is a bit of a fantasy to not be seeing some realistic difficulties and problem solving with the slightly more mature couples. The narration was ok but my download had a section that repeated itself. This is good selection for the Escape Package or on sale but probably not worth a credit.
