Publisher's summary

Callis Rose is a girl blessed with a gift from above or cursed with a ruthless power she barely understands; it's really just a matter of degrees. As her family life is turned asunder she is thrown into an indifferent Social Services program where she defends herself the only way she knows how.

Callis is moved from home to home until she finally settles at the Lowries. As she starts her first day of high school she meets both her favorite and least favorite person. Both happen to be part of the same household. Mindy Denton makes it her single mission in life to destroy Callis, even as her brother, Kevin, falls deeper into love with the mysterious and beautiful girl who is hiding something from them all.

FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where does Callis Rose rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

GOING IN MY LIST OF ATF'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What other book might you compare Callis Rose to and why?

Kind of Carrie-ish...definitely in that category!

Have you listened to any of Sean Runnette’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and I love him....He wasn't Michael Talbot this time...but he was still friggin fabulous!!!!!!!!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did!! lol I could not put it down!!!!

Any additional comments?

I LOVED this...this was a really cool tragic tale, and I liked Callis...yes, she was deadly, yes she was scary...and yes I adored her!! She was really a sweet girl, she just got pushed to far, and things went horribly wrong....people should not have free reign to treat others of lower economic means cruelly..and lets face it...Callis can not be held at fault for having this power...yes she messed up when she was little girl and her family ended up dead...but she learned...and she probably would have never hurt anyone, if they wouldn't of hurt her...she was provoked every time....and I loved the mention of BT....woohoo!! FABULOUS LISTEN!! Mark does it again....I am doing a Tufo marathon....On to Timothy!!! DO NOT HESITATE...DOWNLOAD THIS NOW AND LISTEN!!! 2 HUGE THUMBS UP AND A HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Callus Rose

I wish there was another of these books!! A part 2 or a pre book describing how she got her powers, or maybe her soul hijacking another body!! Sigh…

Define good writing

I'M WICCAN NOT PAGAN
I am not totally sure how to define good writing. Mark Tufo does not have good character development, his characters are two dimensional, they are black or gray. His prose is nothing exceptional. I am not a fan of his humor, although many others are. His stories are not original, this is a rip off of Carrie. Some times his writing seems simple, some times he explains too much, it just does not seem polished, but like a car wreck, I find I can not stop listening. Most chapters end with something happening that makes you to want to listen on. He is always entertaining. My number one complaint with any writer is don't bore me and MT does not do that. His writing reminds me a lot of B.V. Larson.

The evil characters in this are mainly cheerleaders, who sound like Beevis and Butt Head. The main cheerleader is so mean it is really hard to believe she is popular. Her two cronies are so pathetic it is hard to believe they ever accomplished anything. The other evil characters are Foster parents. Foster parents who are lazy and treat the kids like slaves and don't care for the kids, matter of fact hate them. The people who work in the foster care system are portrayed as non-feeling robots.

SHE SAID SARDONICALLY. SHE SAID PEEVISHLY.
This is entertaining, just don't expect literature, realism or any type of message.

Dark but worth the ride

Any additional comments?

I would have given this story 3 stars, except for the return of one of my favorite ZF characters, that alone was worth the ride. The story was predictable, dark, and did I mention predictable?

Beautiful, Tragic Callis Rose

If you could sum up Callis Rose in three words, what would they be?

WoW 3 words, ok, I used 2 of them in my headline, but...
Beautiful, Tragic, Heartbreaking.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Callis, that poor girl had powers she didn't understand and no one to guide her. Who knows what she could've done, with the right (or wrong) person to guide her.

What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Oh Heck I'd listen to Sean Runnette recite the alphabet! LOVE that mans voice. He IS the voice of Mike Talbot. If you don't know who that is read more of Mark Tufo's Books starting with Zombie Fallout 1

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Callis accidentally killed her father and realized what she had done.

Any additional comments?

Although very different from his usual books Mark Tufo pulls off how catty girls are, although I'm glad I never knew any quite as mean. I also love how BT was involved in the story.

Tufo keeps amazing me!

Mark Tufo is easily in my top five all-time favorite authors! I have absolutely fallen in love with his Zombie Fallout series. While this book has an entirely different feel from that series it was a riveting story full of emotion.
