Publisher's summary

When friends stop trusting each other, Darkness is there to fan the flames.

Things have turned black at the House of Night. Zoey Redbird’s soul has shattered. With everything she’s ever stood for falling apart, and a broken heart making her want to stay in the Otherworld forever, Zoey’s fading fast. It’s seeming more and more doubtful that she will be able pull herself back together in time to rejoin her friends and set the world to rights. As the only living person who can reach her, Stark must find a way to get to her. But how? He will have to die to do so, the Vampire High Council stipulates. And then Zoey will give up for sure. There are only seven days left.

Enter BFF Stevie Rae. She wants to help Z but she has massive problems of her own. The rogue Red Fledglings are acting up, and this time not even Stevie Rae can protect them from the consequences. Her kinda boyfriend, Dallas, is sweet but too nosy for his own good. The truth is, Stevie Rae’s hiding a secret that might be the key to getting Zoey home but also threatens to explode her whole world.

In the middle of the whole mess is Aphrodite: ex-Fledgling, trust-fund baby, total hag from Hell (and proud of it). She’s always been blessed (if you could call it that) with visions that can reveal the future, but now it seems Nyx has decided to speak through her with the goddess’s own voice, whether she wants it or not. Aphrodite’s loyalty can swing a lot of different ways, but right now Zoey’s fate hangs in the balance.

Three girls…playing with fire…if they don’t watch out, everyone will get Burned.

Not the Best in the Series - Narrator is TERRIBLE

The book itself is pretty much on par with the rest of the series, I enjoyed the continuing story and advancing of the characters. That said, it took me FOREVER to get through this book because I could barely STAND to listen to the narrator. Her accents are laughable, and in certain cases downright insulting (her reading of Karmeesha's every line made me cringe!) I won't be listenting to the next book if there isn't another narrator change.

Why cant you keep with 1 Narrator

Caitlin Davies is I'm sorry BORING!!!!! I get so use to one of the readers and then you get a different one. Its hard to stay in focus with the characters... they lose me when they ALL start to sound the same Stevie Ray you lose her twang... Aphrodite she just sooo much attitude you can't mess her. But the twins and Jack and Grandmother Redbird they just aren't right Please find a person to Narrate and stick with them.... Oh My Goddess.... Other wiseI so love this series as much as V. A...

That's two filler books in a row...

This book dragged on and on, but this time it had a purpose. Stark, Stevie Ray, Refeim and Aphrodite each have a bigger part in this book and we are finally closer to the big showdown. I am excited for the next book. Even though this book was a filler it does a good job to set everything up. I do think that the whole book could have been condensed into maybe 5 or six intense chapters vs a whole book though. You may want to wait for a sale to get this one.

house of night

You know, I am starting to see that everyone has a different opinion when it comes to narrators. This is the first Narrator that I have actually enjoyed listening to in a while! shes very descriptive, and has a pleasant, calming voice. As far as the book itself goes, I am enjoying it to! I do not see it being to "wordy" as other reviews put it. I mean whats a book without words? ^^

Nothing like the first three books

Very wordy as the other said and you already knew what was going to happen it was very obvious. Not the same as the rest. Very young reader also.

That's All I Can Stand & I Can't Stands No More!

What disappointed you about Burned?

Absolutely everything. The plot was non-existent, repetitive and boring. The narration was terrible and in places racist. The characters were horrid. The product placement irritating. The writing juvenile and obnoxious, the dialogue unrealistic.

What was most disappointing about P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast ’s story?

Wow. I have to choose one? Okay - the most disappointing thing about the story is that there wasn't one.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator could have decided not to use the most racist "voice" ever for the African American character. That would have gone a long way toward making this one merely awful instead of just offensive.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger. Lots of Anger. I wasn't disappointed, I knew it wouldn't be good, I had been thinking about giving up on the series for a couple of the last installments - this one sealed the deal. UGH! It was TERRIBLE.

Any additional comments?

Nope. Avoid it. Don't waste a credit or your cash. Try a Morganville Vampires novel if you want good, silly, vampire fun.

Burned is fabulous

I just loved this book. IMO it was my favorite of all of them so far. The narrator does a great job and I love how PC Cast uses the characters all differently instead of just one. I can't wait for the next book.
