Publisher's Summary

There is a new Alpha Wolf in town, and she is about to change everything.

Mena had all she wanted in life: a nice house, money, a successful husband who treated her like a queen.

That was, until she found out her marriage was all a lie, and things she never thought could exist, did.

Vampires are real.

Werewolves are real.

And Mena is not human anymore.

Great beginning to a new series

What made the experience of listening to Accepting the Moon: Prequel the most enjoyable?

The book kept twisting from what you think you are going to read. I love books that are not totally predictable.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Accepting the Moon: Prequel?

I loved the opening scene when Jackson (vampire) has picked up a girl brings her to a motel to feed, and never bothers to go say anything to her as soon as he meets Mena I wonder what she thought happened to him.

Have you listened to any of Pyper Down’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I do not believe I have but I enjoyed the narration very much.

Any additional comments?

This was a novella introducing us to the characters, definitely will listen to the next book.

I loved this book! 4.5 STARS

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
The book starts with Mena talking about why she left her husband. She meets Jackson and enters a whole new world. She just thought living with her husband was rough…it was nothing! Meeting Phoenix changed her world even more than she thought was possible. This was a very fast paced book since it was less than 2 hours, but boy was there a lot packed in! I liked the storyline and the different twist on these 2 species. The narration was flawless as well! Absolutely 4.5 STARS!

You’re going to want to sink your teeth into this

Mena has discovered that her husband of 12 yrs has cheated on her...he tries to apologize but then slaps her when he realizes that she’s going anyway. Mena is caught in a storm and pulls in to a crappy motel for the night. There she meets Jackson...who was there with a woman. However, once Jackson spots Mena he forgets about the woman and starts dragging her to her car...it’s a dark and stormy night so of course something happens!! The car is surrounded by wolves then Mena’s husband pulls up...and starts to morph into a wolf, then attacks! Mena wakes up to someone cleaning her wounds...she was bitten by wolf-Mark before she shot & killed him. Whew, this novella packs a punch...Mena’s rescuer is a vampire and she’s told that since she killed the head of the werewolves, she’s now the head. Vampires are enemies of the werewolves but Mena is determined to make some changes starting with a truce. Will Mena succeed? Will have to move on to the next book in the series to find out!!
Awesome story and great narration.

A great Prequel to prepare you for a great ride

I listened to this after I had finished the follow-on books. It was as "post" for me, rather than "pre". It was great to find out how the characters started. Really enjoyed this book along with the entire series. Looking for more. Thanks Kristie. You never disappoint.

Alluring.

This prequel does exactly what a prequel should...leaves you wanting for more. Mena is going to be one badass werewolf. I love K.S. Haigwood's talent for making paranormal worlds unlike all of the rest. I can't wait to read more of her work.

The audible performance was perfect.

Unexpectedly pleased with this Story!

While this was a quick listen/read only about an hour and a half. I was a little leary because I'm not much one for paranormal type books. the genre is not one that I'm normally into. So this was the first book I had listened to slash read by the author. My sister had recommended it to me and said ok I'll give it a shot but kept putting it off. I finally broke down and listen to it and I was quite pleased how the storyline actually went. Storyline was very intriguing left me on the edge of my seat wanting more wondering what was going to happen next between the characters. I do have the next 2 books in the series and will be listening/reading them to see how the storyline will unfold! this book has Mystery, Suspense, Romance and kinda reminds me of the Twilight Series so we will see where it takes me!

HELPFUL INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you!

First and foremost, this listen is under 2 hours. It's not so much a full story as a summary of events that lead into the emerging series. It is important as part of the characters' development, but it's not a necessary read. A lot is revisited in the next book, "Midnight Moonrising."

(SPOILER) There's a lot put into this very short prequel. Basically, Mena, oblivious to the supernatural, doesn't know her powerful, high-profile husband is a werewolf pack leader. After catching him cheating, she runs, he chases, add a Vampire, a bite, a self-defense kill, and voilá... she's now the Werewolf pack leader, in love with an enemy vampire. Whew!

Pyper Down is a fantastic narrator. Need I say more?

I read "Midnight Moonrising" before this prequel, and could tell there was history I was missing, but the story was understandable without it. BUT, the series is richer after knowing the background of Mena, Jackson, Alex and Phoenix.

TWO THUMBS UP!!

A Fantastic Paranormal Romance!

This is a fantastic start to a new series! I loved it!

I downloaded this book as an audio book, so that I could listen to it while doing household chores. This audio book was narrated by Pyper Down. I loved her narration; her vocal interpretations of the characters made them come alive. She did a fantastic job! Her voice was melodic and smooth, and I found myself drawn into the story more easily. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by her.

Mena is a wonderful character. I really liked her. She is quite courageous and determined. But one moment of danger will change her life forever. Can she overcome the obstacles thrown in her path by fate?

This is a very interesting prequel novella to a new series. In this book, we are introduced to Mena, Jackson and Phoenix. Each character has a chance to give their own point of view. I really enjoyed their interactions. Jackson seems to be quite impulsive and hotheaded at times. Phoenix, on the other hand, is extremely intense and powerful; I suppose it helps that he's the leader of the vampire clan.

The story is a really fast paced read! I was quickly swept into the tale. It is full of twists and turns, with lots of action and danger. I was a little disappointed that it was so short, though, lasting only 1 hour and 39 minutes. I wanted it to keep going! I am now looking forward to reading/listening to the main story arc in the first full novel of the series.

K.S. Haigwood has written another wonderful paranormal romance series. I love her fast paced writing style, and the flow of the story was wonderful. I am fast becoming a fan of hers.

Due to a few scenes of violence, I do not recommend this book to younger readers. However, I recommend this story if you love older YA or erotic paranormal romance genres. - Lynn Worton

Fantastic

What an awesome story, werewolves and Vampires are natural enemies but after an unexpected event the way to end the bloodshed may be open, can a centuries old feud be brought to an end ?
When Mena leaves her cheating husband she has no idea where she's going but a storm, a chance encounter, a pack of wolves and a totally unexpected revelation changes her life forever.
Totally lost myself in this story, theres an attraction between Mena and Phoenix that neither will be able to hold back for long regardless of the dangers it provokes, I can't wait to get stuck into the next book to see what happens.
