Tarzan ist der Sohn des britischen Lords Greystoke und dessen Frau, die zu Beginn noch schwanger ist. Von da an heißt der Waise „Tarzan“ und wird von dieser Gruppe Affen aufgezogen, unter denen sich die Affenfrau Kala besonders um ihn kümmert.
