Publisher's summary

 Another school shooting.

Another senseless act of violence.

But this one is different.

It isn’t random. It was orchestrated by a mysterious outsider.

And it’s just the beginning.

“This is Shea at his absolute best.”

The warning was released soon after the first school shooting. It came from an untraceable source, and threatened a similar violent incident at one school in each state across the country. Soon, the entire nation is plunged into a state of panic.

As law enforcement desperately searches for the group responsible, former FBI agent Nick Lawrence is called up by an old friend. They need Nick’s unique set of skills to find and stop a twisted criminal mastermind...before he claims his next victims.

Praise for Brian Shea:

"...quick-moving, exciting, and eventful." (Booklife Prize Critic’s Report

"Shea's background in law enforcement gives the well-researched book authenticity." (The Williamson County Sun

BRIAN SHEA has served as both a military officer and law enforcement Detective, and his authentic works of fiction have been enjoyed by thousands. His books are recommended for listeners who enjoy Michael Connolly’s Harry Bosch, David Baldacci’s John Puller, or James Patterson’s Alex Cross.

Did the Editor Get Paid?

Overall not a bad story, but the editing is horrible. You can take about 20 minutes off the duration because of the repeated lines and the long gap between chapters. Narrator is not too bad, but his pronunciation of bureau is annoying. BuuuuRow!!!

Story Better - Editing horrible

I was a little bit worried about how this book would go as the previous one was a let down. I can say this had some really good twists and turns in it and has given me the desire to go and read the next one in the series. However, the editing was horrible in this book. There were several (I believe at least 5 instances) where the narrator started to read and then you heard what sounded like a finger snapping and the narrator started over again and reread the previous line differently. Odd. AND the gap between chapters was long. There were times I thought Audible had stopped and was about to hit the "start" button again only to find it was still running. This can be very distracting from the actual narrated story. Just didn't make sense why they allowed so much time to lapse between chapters.

love this author, good story, crappy editor

I've enjoyed all the books in this series so far, but the editor really let the author down with this one. Hope they give the author a refund! lots of duplicate phrases where the narrator stopped and restarted, long pauses between chapters. Will still buy the next one in the series, hoping it will be a better quality as the first books in the series were.

ONE WORD BEST DESCRIBES THIS BOOK: FANTASTIC!

The 4th book in the Nick Lawrence series was unbelievably good. Like all of Brian Shea's books, they are easy to follow and all the characters are masterfully placed within the book itself. While I'm disappointed that Connor Goff won't be narrating the 5th book in the series, I still plan on listening to it with great expectations.

Mega change in the series..

Huge twist in the story in this book. I hate that it had to go that way but also intrigued to see where the author will take it.

So disappointed in this author and definitely won’t listen to another book

The audio here is atrocious. Not only the mispronounced words which are taken to a whole new level here but at least four instances of narrator stopping and starting over which were not edited out. You even hear the click of the stop/start. So amateur.

The story here is a bit better than the last one and puts series on a new path after last book looked like it was the death knell.

Better than previous

Better than the previous book but still not worth the time. I’m debating if I will read the next book.

Good book

Good book but the recording is a little messed up there’s some background noise . And some gaps between listening to the chapters. Overall a good book I really am enjoying the series and would recommend.

weird narration

Great book series. The narrator isn't bad, but he either completely mispronounced a ton of everyday words or with others just pronounced them in a weird way. Not really something that makes it less enjoyable, but takes your mind off of the book for a few minutes.
