Whether it’s 500 words or 5,000, these Tales to Count On, which include a battered women’s shelter, childhood memories, Venetian love, magic photographs, PTSD, sisters’ tricks, WWII spies, the French Revolution, evil vaudevillians, and celebrity woes, will remind you that in the end, nothing is ever what it seems.

These are stories out of the ordinary for sure. Some shorter than others, but all pretty intriguing. Because of the way they differ you'll never know what to expect. As I was listening to them, I kept comparing to appetizers before the big meal: you get a little taste of what is to come. The word counting also added another dimension to each story as you knew from the beginning how short a tale was going to be so there was no disappointment when you reached the end of a story. I would definitely enjoy listening to more of these short collections.
The interpretation was fine, but some of the recording's quality wasn't perfect. However it got better after a few of the shorter tales.

This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. Each story was unique, entertaining and thought provoking . She is very talented and seems to have a knack for short stories.

I’ve previously listened to Sewing Can be Dangerous and Other Small Threads. This is also a collection of short stories, however they are longer than the ones in this book. They were well thought out, historical, and had a common thread of “sewing”. Very enjoyable!

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator and I would listen to another. She did well narrating each story.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. I don’t recall any swearing.

Here you will find a variety of short stories that leave you thinking. Some are a little more complicated than others with plenty of twist and turns and unexpected endings. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.
