Publisher's summary

For hundreds of years in ancient Mesoamerica, the Nephites and Lamanites continued a feud started by a single family. This family crossed the sea from Jerusalem to settle in a Promised Land, clinging to the promise that God would protect them as long as they remembered him.

Inspired by the narratives found in the Book of Mormon, Tales from the Promised Land is a collection of exciting short stories set against the backdrop of the ancient Americas. These are not the same Book of Mormon stories your teacher told you!

Early Mormon stories.

I am actually a Christian Roman Catholic. I found these stories to be somewhat like our Saints stories. Stories of the struggles in our lives, struggling with our faith . Inspiring. Complicated. Even scary. Entertaining. Interesting.
The narration was ok. Her male voices didn't impress me. It's not her fault, but I had a hard time with the ancient, biblical names. Might have been better to have seen them in writing.

Entertaining stories based on The Book of Mormon

Imaginative & interesting stories of people living in Book of Mormon settings, times & places. Some are fictional characterizations of actual Book of Mormon people portraying events that are recorded in the Book of Mormon. The stories are well written and bring the characters to life and help the reader visualize some of the events of the time in more detail than is actually given in the Book of Mormon. The narration is well voiced and accentuates the stories.

Historical Fiction Based on the Book of Mormon

Parents- Really fine for any age but better for around 4th grade and up
Language- None
Violence- PG- normal to genre nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- none

This was a fun and quick read at under 4 hours of listening time. Each of the chapters tells a different story from a different time period in the Book of Mormon. This can be listened to a story at a time or all the way through. While some of the characters are fictional for those familiar with the Book of Mormon you'll recognize the real names. I really loved the story told in this book that was set around Jesus' visit to the people in America.

Narrator- did ok, was a bit slow and stilted but if you increase the speed to about 1.5x it was better.
