Publisher's Summary

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24-hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

With the body count steadily on the rise and a dark, ancient force infecting the dreams of everyone around him, Jack will do everything in his power to stay out of the way and mind his own business. After all, he’s just a gas station clerk. It’s not like he’s getting paid enough to wage battle against the nightmarish aberrations plaguing his community. Besides, he already has his hands full attempting to manage all those mysterious lawn gnomes, the mutant raccoons, and the charming phantom cowboy who lives in the bathroom.

Based on the award-winning creepypasta by GasStationJack, Tales from the Gas Station: Volume One is a love letter to the pioneers of classic horror tailored to a generation that grew up in the era of smartphones and WiFi.

One of my most favorite nosleep series!

I absolutely loved the original Reddit stories and when Jack said he was putting out his book I couldn't wait. I bought the book back when it came out and didn't hesitate to buy the audible version.

Tales from the gas station is honestly a lot like an episode of The Twilight Zone (the old one not the new one, haven't watched that one yet.). The story itself is phenomenal and is 100x better when voiced By MCP. MCP bring life and style to all of the characters and breaths life into the story itself.

I absolutely love this book and I love the narrator too! I would definitely recommend to anyone that has a dark sense of humor (or a sense of humor at all) and to anyone who likes hearing strange stories.

Perfect blend of horror, humor and strangeness.

I have been a huge fan of these stories since Mr. creepy pasta had short versions on his podcast. This is the first book I've bought outright without using credits in years, and got it the day it was released. can't wait for vol. 2 thru infinity.

Excellent listen - both book and narrator

My friend suggested that I read this book even though it’s unlike anything I read in general or listen -whatever - but I decided to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed that I did. Between the narrator and the story this was a great listen and I can’t wait (hopefully there is one )but can’t wait for the next sequel .. this was an enjoyable listen and it’s like humor with a little bit of scary but not really scary- if that makes sense .. highly recommended!!!

Odd Thomas meets Monty Python

Interesting story and narration. Sometimes hard to follow, but think that this was actually intentional.

Good listen

My only beef is with the engineering. Many long pauses which should’ve been edited better, also a few double lines as well as the narrator coughing/clearing his throat and tripping over his tongue. Sometimes the sound would get softer then quieter, even during the same sentence. That said, the errors didn’t detract from the overall listen, I’ll be buying volume II

Narration was frustrating

The narrator’s cadence was aggravating. He’d read quickly, then at a normal pace, and take long unnecessary pauses. It made it hard for me to get into the story.

The stories themselves may have been ok, but I didn’t make it through the first one before giving up due to the narration. Hence one star.

From Reddit To Riches

i've been following this story since i found it on Mr CreepyPasta's youtube channel a year ago. Excellent Story, Excellent Narration, i couldn't be happier it finally has an official release, i kinda miss the background music though.

If you're reading this and considering getting Tales from the Gas Station, i cant recommend it enough, listen to it here first, before it becomes the next big netflix adaptation.

Original, entertaining and moments of LOL

Just fantastic! Great narration of a quirky, dark-humoured series. A plethora of interesting characters, with nods to reknown literary tropes against a Stephen-King-esque backdrop, Tales from the Gas Station has the potential to entertain readers/listeners for many volumes to come and it is my hope that it will because I am hooked!
Jack Townsend and Mr Creepypasta are a formidable team; I thoroughly enjoyed Volume One and am "pumped" for Volume Two, (couldn't help myself!)
All round, this book is worth every penny and every second spent on it.

Weird and Wonderful

Tales From the Gas Station is an impressive outing. I wouldn't say its a cohesive narrative, but a journey into the weird. Its Twin Peaks, but if written by a more modern, younger writer. There is a story tying everything together, but the main attraction is the day to day happenings at the gas station, and how Jack manages them. The character of Jack is actually very well written, relatable and is surprisingly well fleshed out. The overriding plot is a bit weak however. Its a collection of interesting parts, the journey is great, the ending, not so much so. Even with that in mind, I would still give this a go. Its impressed me enough, to move on to the sequel when I am able to. Mr Pasta narrates very well. and from research, a YouTuber who is associated with this sort of weird fiction. Surprising then that the audio quality actually is a bit substandard in places. For someone who probably has a decent recording setup, there was a lot of moments where there was noticeable background noise, thumps against a desk etc. No enough to detract from the experience, but odd they haven't been edited out/a proper noise gate put in place. He does however do a fine job of breathing life into the world. Overall, a very good book , a fresh and different experience

Weird but stay with it.

Well this book was about the weirdest I have ever read or heard. It is kind of like having an LSD bad trip pushed in through your ears!! BUT stick with it as it is a good listen and the writer and the narrator did actually make me laugh out loud several times.

It’s just soo much fun

It really is great. The atmosphere of the gas station and the town have the potential to be horrifying but the way the characters interact with each other and the scenarios they are put in just makes in so much more enjoyable.
