Publisher's summary

Tales from Suburbia is a collection of short stories, plays, and blog posts that intermingle my own personal experiences as a mum, the peccadillos of suburbia, and the perils of social media! The subject matter varies from social observation to the humorous reflection of toddler life.

"Burying My Baby" is heartbreaking. "One Two, Cha Cha Cha" is hilarious. This collection is full of human foibles and folly and is both amusing and empathetic.

Great Collection of Short Stories, Great Listen🎧

This is a great collection of short stories! They are enjoyable and entertaining. Claire Buss is imaginative and has a way with words. She creates these interesting shorts, some are funny, some are not but they all have one thing in common. They are easily relatable, some you may have even experienced yourself, like the one with the shopping trolley or as we call it here in the US, a shopping cart in “The Shopping Trolley Quest”, we’ve all been there. LOL! Those with toddlers can relate to several of the stories too. Those with busy days, in “Bullet Your Day”. My heart went out to the Mom in “Burying My Baby”. I just hope no one goes to such extreme as in “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, LOL. This is a great mixed bag of stories one you can enjoy over and over again. Claire Buss, thank you for these great stories.

I listened to the Audible edition, Helena Little is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings the characters and their story to life from the pages to your ears. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for the great listen🎧

Really nice listen.

The narrator adds a great extra layer to an already enjoyable short story collection. These are funny, and poignant and a great listen for an afternoon at home.

Tales to listen

This collection of short tales are mostly fun stories but there are a bit of everything. I liked the "manual" one (this seems a recurring theme) and the cemetery "thiller".
The narrator does a wonderful job at giving live to this short stories, in a way that I truly recommend to listen to them instead of reading. It really does bring a cool layer to the stories. Fear not non-english listeners, even though there are some stories with a strong accent I didn't had any difficulty in following the stories.
Claire Buss has another collection of shorts you can try also, they are both great. :)

Such fun!!

I really enjoyed this book and the narrator did an excellent job! All the characters were well-defined and well-understood. Ms. Buss wrote stories that were surprising, poignant, funny, and realistic. Very good book!

Compilation of Short Tales

This was my first experience with Claire Buss' work and I really enjoyed the varied tales. I will be looking into more of her writing. As I was listening to these tales it very much reminded me of looking into a segmented curio cabinet but instead of little figurines in each pocket there were little bits of writing in each one. I found the stories to be happy, frustrating, joyful, surprising, and sad depending upon the subject matter. Helena Little does an amazing job as the narrator. I enjoyed listening to her and felt that she added a layer of emotion to each segment which increased my enjoyment of the tales. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Fast-paced, enjoyable read

Tales from Suburbia, my first short read from author Claire Buss. Fast-paced, enjoyable, 1-hour 33-minute read. I was been given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Helena Little’s narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

not for me

It was several short stories which is fine... only one mildly held my interest...I couldn't wait for the audible to be finished; but I did listen to every bit. it was a shuffle between a mini murders & potty training. not for me.
