Publisher's Summary

Mercedes Lackey's triumphant return to the bestselling world of Valdemar, Take a Thief reveals the untold story of Skif - a popular character from Lackey's first published novel, Arrows of the Queen.

Skif was an orphan who would have died from malnutrition and exposure if he had never met Deke the pickpocket.

By the time he was twelve, Skif was an accomplished cat burglar.

But it wasn't until he decided to steal a finely tacked-out white horse, which was, oddly enough, standing unattended in the street, that this young thief discovered that the tables could turn on him-and that he himself could be stolen!

Long live Valdemar!!!

I have always loved the Valdimar stories. Only wish that collegium was pronounced correctly. After all the word comes from college. It grates against my nerves. I even checked the pronunciation in the dictionary. Otherwise Mr. Woodson
does an excellent job with the series. I love Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series the best of all her others.

love the story

I have read this book many times and it was a nice reading of the story. however, the reader pronounces words a little differently and my head kept fixing the pronunciation.

It was fun listening to a story I've read.

I like most of the Valdamar world stories. I laughed at some of the scenes I remembered reading years ago. They were just as funny.

The plus side is that these are fun stories.

Down side is that the character depth through out the stories varies. This was one of the better ones.

Intriguing.

I definitely enjoyed. the twist and turns had been worried about Skif. I am glad I was wrong and all worked out well with some great lessons on life.

Surprised

I liked the reader. I didn’t expect to. I liked the way he pronounced some words, different than I do, but I eventually decided his way was better. Easy voice to listen to.

Alberich & introducing Skif

Alberich's story continues, but with a focus on the thief, Skif. Skif's back story is very interesting. A wonderful narration.

Brilliant

Once again, Paul Woodson brings the story to life with his narration of one of my favorite books. His interpretation of Mercedes Lackey’s characters is brilliant.

Love it.

Once again a excellent book. I love hearing about the back story of some characters in herold series. Good reading by Paul Woodson but I would have liked more definition between the characters.

I only wish it was longer!

I've always been a fan of Lackey's books and Take A Thief has always been one of my favorites! I was a bit reluctant to listen to the audio version, in case I was put off by the reader (I'm looking at you Owlknight Trilogy..), but was absolutely pleasantly surprised! The reader was fantastic and really brought the characters alive for me. Some listeners have complained about words being pronounced differently but this didn't put me off at all.
