Publisher's summary

Events begin to spin out of control as Steve Langley's landmark fantasy saga passes its half-way point.... Callie sees a Dragon on her first attempt to find one. This is the start of a long series of frustrating hunts to capture or even kill a dragon. In the mean time she takes on the role of journeyman magus even though she has never been acknowledged as even an apprentice. She starts to train the real apprentices. Callie, with the help of a hunter named Ander, plans to drug herself a dragon. The plan goes awry and Callie gives up the attempt, leaving Ander with the baby, Jeri. She has little time for dragon hunts because she is running a shop selling artifacts that she builds in order to finance the dragon hunts. Droud is sure Callie is hatching some plot against him. It is what he would do. To beat her to the punch he attempts to rape her under compulsion. Everyone know that a woman can’t hold magic after she is no longer a virgin. They are interrupted by Master Restotin, who ends up dead. Droud is on the run, and Callie takes over the school. Daleran University, upon hearing of Master Restotin’s death tries to take possession of the shop and the school. Things get messy and when the dust settles Callie is acknowledged as ‘The Sorceress AnKimbo’. Jeri, having left his home behind after losing everything, starts out on his new life as a solitary hunter and continues on until he comes out of the wilderness and finds a new home in the Timbrul Circus. Kite and Ciara, in human form, continue to search for Jeri, and plan to find and kill Callie as well, in a human world that is much much larger than they had imagined. Steve Langley was one-half of the writing team behind the pseudonym "Fredric Davies," credited as the author of the classic Man from U.N.C.L.E. novel The Cross of Gold Affair.
