A routine tax fraud investigation. A strange lab. A mysterious button.

He shouldn’t have pushed the button. But Alfred Favero, senior analyst with the IRS, pushed the button. And now he’s 67 million years in the past, stranded out of time with a coworker who hates him and a bunch of tax cheats. Oh, and then there’s the other inhabitants of his prehistoric home: the dinosaurs that want to make a meal of him. Things couldn’t get worse.

Until a mysterious visitor from an uncertain future shows up with murder on his mind.

The author is definitely onto some good with this series. Alfred a taxman is funny and likable with his quirks and idiosyncrasies. The narrator is a perfect fit and does a top notch job. The story is part Jurassic Park with time travel. But it is definitely original and was a blast to listen to.

I must preface this review by saying that I don't read sci-fi. I got a free code to use on an assortment of sci-fi/fantasy audiobooks. I picked this one strictly based on the title (I do tax returns).
I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this book. The characters were likable, the story wasn't so far-fetched that I felt like rolling my eyes, and, best if all, Rachel Ford is an excellent writer who uses proper grammar and good sentence structures.
For those who care about the use of profanity, there were very few instances of it. In fact, the main character makes a point of not using profanity when he "swears"!
The reader did a pretty good job. He was a little slow.for my taste, but Audible has a fix for that, so I just adjusted the speed to 1.25 and then it was perfect.
Overall, I was hoping for a little more technical IRS involvement, but that's just me. This book was a little gem and I highly recommend it. Even if this is out if your usual genre, you might be happily surprised and discover a new author to follow.

Entertaining and fun read.

Engaging story and great narration!

This one was fun! A nerdy taxman is determined to pursue an evil corporation that is trying to dodge its fiscal responsibilities. Through his pursuit of justice he mistakenly gets himself and his lovely coworker transported back in time!?

I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

This is a weird book, but I really liked it. Alfred Favero, senior analyst with the IRS, comes across as a clueless nerd, at first. I never thought I would like him, but some how he evolved or I did and I found sympathy for him and his plight. I really liked the female lead, Nancy. She was smart and competent. There were not as many dinosaurs as I expected or as much zipping around time, but what there was I found interesting. Try the book and enjoy the romp through 67 million years ago.
John Carter Aimone was a great narrator.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Loved the time travel aspect of this book. It was interesting to follow along with the IRS agents as they get involved in the story line. And how they got involved with the time travel and the time when the t rex walked the earth. Liked what happened with the bad guy but you will have to read it for yourself.
