Unknown to Maisie, Detective Sergeant Cody Houston is the uncle of the newly elected Sheriff of a county in Oklahoma and has no police training or criminal justice experience. In fact, their meeting takes place on his first day on the job. He is merely stepping up as a trusted person to help the department with unexpected openings. Houston may not be a trained police detective, but he has skills. The meeting with Maisie touches him deeply, and he is impacted by her decency and concern.
Houston proves up to the challenge, in fact, and devotes his own time to investigate. His dogged surveillance, intuition, smarts, and research put him onto a secretive, psychotic murder spree engineered by the professor that only he can stop. In the end, his unconventional tactics not only solve the case but oversees the ultimate, final justice that becomes the Sycamore Secret.
Sycamore Secrets is a hard charging adventure plot woven around themes of redemption, family, love, and loyal friendship. It features complex interpersonal relationships combined with a measure of psychological thriller to produce a gripping and entertaining tale.
