Story
Humans, unlike other animals that are drawn to water, are not natural-born swimmers. We must be taught. Our evolutionary ancestors learned for survival; now in the 21st century, we swim in freezing Arctic waters and piranha-infested rivers to test our limits. Swimming is an introspective and silent sport in a chaotic and noisy age; it’s therapeutic for both the mind and body; and it's an adventurous way to get from point A to point B. It's also one route to that elusive, ecstatic state of flow.

Deena Kastor was a star youth runner with tremendous promise, yet her career almost ended after college, when her competitive method - run as hard as possible, for fear of losing - fostered a frustration and negativity and brought her to the brink of burnout. On the verge of quitting, she took a chance and moved to the high altitudes of Alamosa, Colorado, where legendary coach Joe Vigil had started the first professional distance-running team. There she encountered the idea that would transform her running career: the notion that changing her thinking - shaping her mind to be more encouraging, kind, and resilient - could make her faster than she’d ever imagined possible.

Be a Better Swimmer with these easy strategies
What did you love best about Swimming: Swimming Made Easy?
I love that the author made it very easy to understand. All of the strokes are explained beautifully so that you don't even need illustrations to achieve them. Not only are the mechanics of swimming discussed from easy strokes to the more difficult ones, everything else about swimming from diet to mental preparation is also discussed.
What did you like best about this story?
The book lets you take the lead in what you want to do. If you are really bad at swimming, it takes it slow and easy and you can feel like you've achieved something. It stresses safety and I felt comfortable only doing what I felt safe to do. I could mentally see myself doing the strokes and then it wasn't so scary when I actually tried them.
Which character – as performed by Joshua Mackey – was your favorite?
There are no characters as this is a non fiction book, but Joshua Mackey has one of those voices that makes you think you can do anything he says. He kept the book interesting and his description of the strokes and exercises to strengthen the core were exceptional. I do not think I would have gotten as much out of the book if I would have read it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Perfect Strokes for the Swimmer
Any additional comments?
I thought the audio book really helped because you can put the player near the pool and do everything as it is narrated in learning how to swim and do the strokes. If you were reading it, you would have to get out of the pool and read and get back in. This way you never have to leave the pool. I found the strength training part of the book very beneficial and the mental and core exercises were wonderful. It is a great book for a beginner but everyone will get something out of it.

Swimming tips and tricks!
Swimming is a seemingly easy task; some people don't think it is good exercise because it does not involve sweating; however these people are dead wrong. Swimming is a great way to burn calories while staying cool, and it can prove to be quite the difficult sport.
Between being aerodynamic in the water, and having a good breast stroke, back stroke or freestyle stroke, this audiobook has it all.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert swimmer, the tips in this book will certainly pertain to you. Also, if you are a novice swimmer for fun, or swim on a swim team, this audiobook will introduce information to you that is very helpful and new.
It helped me become a better swimmer... I would highly recommend it!

Perfect for the beginner swimmer or the novice
I have always loved swimming and growing up near the beautiful beaches I find myself in the waters quite often. Swimming is a great hobby and can be a great workout! This book is perfect for the beginner swimmer or the novice. The author tells you valuable information on how to improve your swim techniques with detailed explanations. There are chapters on each swim stroke and how to perfect them.
I have always loved The Butterfly Stroke but was never able to master it. I got some really great tips on how to better my Butterfly Stroke and I can’t wait to try them out in my next swim.
You should always be mentally prepared with any sport and in Chapter 8 the author explains how your mental state is just as important than your physical. In this chapter you will learn lessons to give you the swim advantage that include visualization, race preparation, perspective and goal setting.
If you are looking to improve your swimming, I highly recommend giving this book a listen to. This book is loaded with lessons and tips to help you reach your swim goals.

Swimming really is made easy with this book
I really like the narrator for the recent series of books that Ace McCloud has released. The narrator makes it much easier to listen to when they speak clearly and have a smooth and vibrant voice. I think I like Josh Mackey as one of my top five favorite narrators of audio books. I like audio books because I'm on the road a lot. Swimming has always been one of my "wish I could" kind of things because I'm kind of afraid of getting water in my lungs. But I can always use tips, tricks and pointers to make me more confident in the strokes I am trying to create properly and breathing right while swimming.
I recommend this book to anyone who needs help with their swimming and not being afraid to learn, even as an adult. And if you're on the road a lot like me, it's a must-listen-to!

Concise Easy to Follow Swimming Guide
This audiobook really delivers on what it promises in terms of making swimming really easy to understand and paving the way for new swimmers to get their feet. It handles the subject in a concise, methodical way and you feel well-guided through each step.
In particular the section on flutter kicking was very effective, and really helped me visualise how the move needs to be done. I also really liked how McCloud anticipates possible reactions from a new swimmer and reassures you that e.g. if you feel strange using new movements, this is perfectly normal. He also compares the way you feel as a beginner to the progress that experienced swimmers can make, giving you insight and a goal to aim for. Indeed, I’d say the book is equally effective for those who’ve never tried swimming and for anyone has reached a good level and wants to refine and improve.
I loved that the audiobook covers multiples key swimming positions with expert advice on each one. You can literally learn exactly how to do them, from your breathing to body position, and choose which suits you best. There’s also top nutrition and lifestyle advice to keep you at the top of your game.
Overall, ‘Swimming Made Easy’ is an insightful and highly effective guide that feels approachable and adaptable for anyone.

Swimming Made Simple!
This guide to swimming has to be one of the best types of advice books I have read. This book is so comprehensive and gives advice on so many aspects of swimming. While lesser authors may fall into the trap of overwhelming the reader with so much information, Ace McCloud has produced a book that is very easy to follow and all the guidance is well-explained.
All the swimming strokes have there own chapters and each one is broken down in a very helpful way and how you can learn or improve them. For me, the section on the backstroke was really interesting and I learnt several new ideas.
Along with the focus on the strokes the book gives excellent advice on fundamentals, proper nutrition and even strength training tips. I highly recommend this book whether you're experienced or unable to swim. The book is tremendous at taking care of both audiences.

Really useful for building swimming skills
Swimming is a super audiobook that dips and dives into all aspects of improving your abilities in the water. It offers a comprehensive journey through goals, building confidence, relaxation techniques, forming good habits, improving body strength and fitness, diet and breathing techniques.
There is a complete chapter devoted to each of the four main swimming strokes, which build the stroke from individual movements, and how to avoid the common mistakes. The narration is clear and expressive, making it easy to listen to and follow.
Swimming is a useful tool for those who are learning to swim and want to get it right from the beginning, and for those who (like me) learned a modified stroke at school and swim less efficiently than they would like. A really helpful little gem.

Amazing Advice For Swimming!
What did you like most about Swimming: Swimming Made Easy?
This is an incredible guide for swimming aimed at both beginners who want to learn to swim as well as experts who want some advice on their swimming technique. Every swimming stroke is covered in detail, with easy to follow guidance and practices. I have tried out the techniques that Ace McCloud described and they are really effective for improving the way you swim. The author also covers healthy eating and nutrition and other exercises which can help you to become a better swimmer. No matter if you are still learning or already experienced, this book is great for everyone wanting to improve their swimming.
What did you like best about this story?
The chapters are spread out nicely so the book is enjoyable to listen to. As each stroke is broken down in detail, it really helps you to understand and imagine everything that is being described, from body movements to breathing methods.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I particularly loved the breast stroke section, as this stroke is one of my favourites but I constantly find it difficult to perfect. After trying some of the techniques and practices described by the author I feel that I am improving in my breast stroke!

Excellently thorough swimming guide
This is a really great guide to help your swimming progress to an expert level. I am not a strong swimmer in the slightest and really wanted to improve and gain more confidence in the water. I really enjoyed this audio book as it is very thorough and takes you through a number of techniques and exercises to help you improve. It also helps you to understand how to use and train your entire body to become a great swimmer whilst highlighting how to avoid injuring yourself or straining your muscles beyond repair.
This is a great guide for anyone looking to improve to a competitive level as it explains a lot of competitive regulations and accepted techniques too. Definitely worth listening too.

Brilliant Tips To Improve Your Swimming Skills!
Any additional comments?
I have always wanted to learn how to swim even when I was little. I remember one time at school, we were having a swimming class and we were asked to do some strokes in the pool which was supervised by our teacher. I was doing quite well and that really made me proud. A few minutes later, I tried to do it alone and I almost drowned if not for my classmate who noticed me trying to lift my head above the water. Since then, I never had the courage to swim again.
Despite that bad experience, I still have that glimmer of hope in me to at least learn the basics, what I did wrong and how to do it right. I saw this book online and decided to give it a go. It’s actually quite brilliant! It helped me understand the basics of swimming. It gives you step-by-step instructions for swimming better, some strategies, what kind of foods are best for swimmers, helpful exercises and drills, and so much more!
Thanks to the author of this book. I think I may have to consider swimming again!

Fantastic tips how to improve your swimming!
What did you like most about Swimming: Swimming Made Easy?
I like this audiobook because it contains very good exercises which are fundamental for swimming strokes like floating on the water, practice breathing under water, isolated movements and positions.
What other book might you compare Swimming: Swimming Made Easy to, and why?
I can compare "Swimming" to ""Health secrets" and " Overcome Fatigue" by Ace McCloud because all books recommend swimming as a fantastic method of relaxation, rehabilitation and just nice and healthy entertainment.
Have you listened to any of Joshua Mackey’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Yes I did listen Joshua Mackey several times an this time his performance meets my expectation. He helps me with active and productive listening, support my listening experience with nice, clear and enthusiastic narration.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Very descriptive are chapters about particular strokes and exercises that help you practice them from very easy like gliding, rolling your body, keep your right head position, flutter kicking. I like the exercises master your head position when you can imagine that you have a glass of water in your forehead.
I can generally swim, but my style is very basic without coordinated movements. I have never tried to learn swim in proper way but most by my intuition. The most difficult for me is butterfly stroke and crawl stroke that involves work of your arm and power, that audiobook provides you how to be strong enough to try this style. I can benefit from valuable exercises from “Swimming” that motivate me to learn these styles.
Any additional comments?
What is more “Swimming” provides other exercises that help you stretch your body, as well as good well balanced diet and motivation training. Very good, valuable audiobook that you can benefit from it.
