Publisher's summary

In her first collection of poetry, Lili Reinhart explores the euphoric beginnings of young love, battling anxiety and depression in the face of fame, and the inevitable heartbreak that stems from passion. Relatable yet deeply intimate, provocative yet comforting, bite-size yet profound, these beautiful poems are about growing up, falling down and getting back up again.

They capture what it feels like to be a young woman in today’s image-obsessed world with Lili’s trademark honesty, optimism and unique perspective. The poems in Swimming Lessons reveal the depths of female experience and are the work of a storyteller who is coming into her own.

An emotional confession

I've read some reviews of this book before listening to it myself. It's true that at times the poems don't sound like poems but more like diary entries. But personally for me, poems can be anything as long as the author can make me feel something. Nonetheless, it being read by Lili herself gives it more depth and feeling. The sound of her voice manages make you relate to her, to her experiences and to connect you with your own. I found myself many times in, what I feel like is, her emotional confession, and reminder me that we're never alone in our own intense feelings. She digs deep into her soul which many of us avoid to so most of the times.
Short, yet enough. Simple writing, yet powerful.
