Publisher's summary

After plunging back in time to 16th-century Scotland, Elena stumbles into a dangerous mystery that threatens her life as much as the handsome guard Captain Brendan threatens her heart....

Elena Cross is one dang good cop. She’s worked hard to establish herself in a male-driven world, but when she walks through a door and ends up in ancient Scotland, she’s forced to face a new reality in a place where women often don’t garner the same respect and the word witch is still used as an excuse to burn someone at the stake.

Brendan Grant quickly finds himself falling for the feisty, beautiful redhead who came crashing into his world from the future. But when a mysterious illness and then disappearances threaten the men of his guard, and all signs point to Elena, he can’t help be wary of the woman who is being accused of being a witch...or worse.

With the clan, and Brendan, looking at her with distrustful eyes, Elena must convince Brandan to trust her, despite how bad things may appear, and use her investigative skills to clear her name.

not great

did not like the narration sounds almost whimsical with the tone of her voice going up and down

narrator isn't great

so...this narrator I've listened to before, her pronunciation is horrible...she has a speech impediment and I only listen because I want to hear the story...so I suffer. This story...well.... the series has me interested...but these "leading ladies" kill me. Feminism isn't high on my list to begin with... and these ladies all but solidify that women on a mission to prove that they are just as good as men can be so stupid...short sighted and frankly undeserving of these men.

The first two books were the best

I loved the 1st two books in the series but this book was disappointing. I found myself fast forwarding through parts. The female character was over the top and annoying. I found myself almost quitting the book several times. Also there were characters who had large parts in the first two books but were scarcely in this book which seemed out of place. The main male character was made out to be a good guy. However, through the story we ride a roller coaster of him demonstrating opposite behaviors till the end when he was a good guy again.

Diapointing

The main character was not very likeable. It was hard to remember that the unpleasantness was supposed to be a spell. The anger got old fast.
