Publisher's Summary

The last person who called me "Sweetpea" ended up dead....

I haven't killed anyone for three years, and I thought that when it happened again I'd feel bad. Like an alcoholic taking a sip of whiskey. But no. Nothing. I had a blissful night's sleep. Didn't wake up at all. And for once, no bad dream either. This morning I feel balanced. Almost sane, for once.

Rhiannon is your average girl next door, settled with her boyfriend and little dog…but she's got a killer secret.

Although her childhood was haunted by a famous crime, Rhiannon's life is normal now that her celebrity has dwindled. By day, her job as an editorial assistant is demeaning and unsatisfying. By evening, she dutifully listens to her friend's plans for marriage and babies while secretly making a list.

A kill list.

From the man at the grocery checkout who always mishandles her apples, to the driver who cuts her off on her way to work, to the people who have it coming, Rhiannon's ready to get her revenge.

Because the girl everyone overlooks might be able to get away with murder....

Amazing

I loved this book for all the same reasons I loved "You" by Caroline Kepnes. A sometimes-lighthearted and always entertaining look inside the mind of a psychopath will ALWAYS be a good ride for me. This was incredibly well-written, and well-performed. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys such things.

Dark and delightful

I seriously enjoyed this. Not just the story, but the narrators ability to get the tone and tenor just right, while delivering her performance. But fair warning, if you don’t enjoy a deeply dark and probably twisted, (dripping with a healthy amount of sarcasm) sense of humor, you’re probably not going to like the book. I just so happen to enjoy it quite a bit.

Good...but...

I was greatly enjoying the book until the author, talking through the protagonist, made a comment about sexual assault that has been proven time and time again to be false. She said a woman in her office wouldn't be raped because she wasn't attractive. In this day and age... Really? I get that the main character has issues but this idea , like others in fiction comes straight from the authors own beliefs. No, rape is not about " pretty girl problems" it's about power, violence, submission and control. Sigh.... The book was very tight, humorous and interesting. To be fair it wasn't the first book about a sarcastic, angry sociopath. Jane Doe did it and in my opinion was better. The book is very readable, clever and well written. But when I read something that the author should clearly know better than to write as it sounds very dated, sexist, uninformed etc. It takes away from the experience for me.

Great story, disappointing ending

I loved the story up to the last 30 seconds. Everything just unraveled. I was hoping everything would have neatly been pieced together. I was hoping for a happily ever after. I guess that's what I get for hoping!

Confusing ending

The narrator was awesome, but my first thought at the end was, "That's it?" I think I wanted more of a resolution, although the author DID offer a strong suggestion.

A waste of time

This novel does not have a plot. The narrator is a killer (you find out in the first few minutes) and she kills. There is no build up, so the action gets repetitive and dull. Sprinkled throughout, a series of disturbing sex scenes that are just gross, not well written. I can’t believe I finished it, but I gave it two stars instead of one just for that.
