"Restraint with Imagination"

Would you listen to Sweet Restraint again? Why?

On the fence with this author. This is not erotica, but it does have very strong BDSM action that is tempered. This author needs a better editor as she has the right stuff. Fast opening, and a good story line. The erotica part was good, but how many times does a listener have to hear the heroine cry out the hero's name "Shane"! Editor should have said enough already, move on. This one was inventive, but so many authors are writing in the same vain, and they do a good job, but you can not remember the author's name after you listen to 10 more stories of the same genre. Unless the reader is outstanding, and brings you back to a re listen, ie: Anna Fields, Natalie Ross and Karen White, I personally own so many to be listen books, I do not have time to re listen to these types of stories.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

this is a good inventive core romance with hot, erotic sex make no mistake. It was worth the listening time and I did listen all at once.

Did Shirl Rae do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I have to say, I have mixed feeling about this reader. I am fairly sure she has an AKA and I have listened to her using another name. ie: Lucy Malone, similar but maybe not the same. This reader did a good job representing the characters in this book, a good range. She had a fast pace, which so many of these FSOG types need. Since this had a mystery to the story line, the pace was good and reader had good voice changes for all the charaters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This had way too much erotica for a film.

Any additional comments?

I am going to try another story from this author, " the stranger in the hall rescue" to see if this author is worth staying with. I have no desire for the 2 part books she has available.

Excellent

This one has all the ingredients that I want. The plot is great. The sex is intense. It's got good guys and bad guys. The narration is very good. I'm well pleased. I'm more than happy I used my credit on this one. Not much more to say than that. I'll be keeping my eye on this author.

Sweet Restraint

Beth Kery is one of my all time favorite authors and I'd listen to Shirl Rae read a phone book.

CAN'T GVE A REASON, JUST NOT FOR ME

I don't know why, this just did not work for me. It began to be torture to listen to, so I quit.

Another disappointment

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story was so out of touch with reality that it was hard to finish the book. It went to far with the restraints and it seemed as if Laura and Shane never connected long enough to make it last. Nothing like the past reviews I read about it...another disappointment.

Has Sweet Restraint turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not really as long as it is a little more realistic.

Would you be willing to try another one of Shirl Rae’s performances?

Disappointment

Brilliant!....if you like pathetic heroines....

OK. Perhaps I keep looking in the wrong places for an intelligent story that includes women who are intelligent and strong.

If an author includes a reference to the "strength' of someone's character and then goes on to write scenes where that character is anything but "strong" I tend to discount the unsubstantiated claims.

The heroine was a doormat, unlikable, pathetic.

The book was "free" and the price was too high.

Beth Kery is capable of so much more.
