Publisher's summary

Heading to Chicago for his mother’s funeral, Markus Landry is waylaid by a piece of metal piercing his gas tank. Stuck in the small town of Valentine, Oklahoma, he meets a vivacious spitfire librarian, Charlie White, who quickly gets under his skin. Markus wants more than a taste of her sweet lips and asks her to take a trip back to his hometown.

With just over a month left before Charlie has to close down her beloved library, meeting Markus is a welcome distraction from her anguish about what she has to do. Even though she barely knows the man, Charlie takes a chance and lets her attraction for Markus take the lead and hopes he doesn’t break her heart.

But seeing the brother he betrayed, Markus doubts he’s worth Charlie’s affection and pushes her away. Their chemistry is undeniable, but love may not be enough when you’re looking for redemption.

Redemption and Romance

Good story about how Marcus healed his relationship with his family and found love with Charlie. The narrator Meghan was fantastic! She did a great job with all the character voices.

A sweet audio love

Ohhh this is a great great audio. First one from the author . I had to start with book 2 once I saw who the narrator was. Meghan Kelly is fantastic . She brings the story to life . The way Meghan plays all the characters right on . You can tell the characters by Meghan voice

Hero is Marcus . Heroine is Charlie .

Marcus got a very hurtful phone call from his sister in law . It tore his heart , he found out his mother died. He didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye. Marcus had a terrible split from his twin brother over his brother woman. His brother caught both of them in the act
Marcus has to make a rush back to Chicago from LA for the funeral. During the two years he went to LA he became a man that was a wham bam thank you very much . His car breaks down in Valentine . The car needs fixing and it will take the garage overnight to do it. That is when Marcus meets the librarian Charlie .
Charlie work is at the library. She needs to pack everything up since the library is closing down. Charlie is trying to stay away from Marcus but....Marcus is making that impossible. They have a heavy hot close encounter at the library. Marcus does one better and visits Charlie at her home.
Grab it and find out why did Marcus seek out Charlie. Does he convince Charlie to give him a chance

Finding love in Valentine

Marcus is living a self-imposed exile in LA for the past 2 yrs after he was caught in a compromising position with his brother's fiancee`. A late night call brings news that his mother has died and the funeral is within 4 days. Marcus decides to drive to Chicago, to clear his head. En route, he has car trouble in a small town named Valentine. He meets the quirky and hot librarian, Charlie, and, after a while they have a brief fling. Marcus convinces Charlie to accompany him to the funeral...aaaand THAT was interesting! Lots of hostility between Marcus, his dad, and - to some extent- his brother...did I mention that the brother is his twin? Yea, very interesting family dynamic. Marcus is a bit of a douche...will Charlie get past his 'douchey' armor and have an HEA? Maaaaybe...no spoilers! Quick read/listen. Great narration...this narrator did a fantastic male character...swoon worthy!

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt Delight!

After enjoying “Sweet Reunion” the first book of CJ Warrant’s “Landry Brothers” duet I was looking forward to hearing Markus’s story. Markus alienated himself from his family after he betrayed his brother Bryce. He left Chicago, the family law firm and his home for California and a fresh start. He has been there for two years when he gets a call from Beth, his Bryce’s new fiancé telling him that his mother passed away and he needs to come home. Needing to think and sort himself out he decides to drive there, bad weather and car trouble lands him in the small town of Valentine, OK. While at the repair place he meets Charlie White who is bringing her car if for repair. Markus is intrigued by her and falls under her spell. Charlie is the town’s librarian, she normally does not do hookups but there is something about Markus that makes her want him, even if it is for just one night. I adored Charlie, she had a goodness about her, her witty dialogue was great too. After a hot night together Markus asks her to come with him to Chicago which she agrees to. But Markus is carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and he winds up pushing Charlie away. I liked how everything plays out in this book the story is nicely plotted and there is never a dull moment. The story contains drama, some angst, some humor, a nice twist involving Bryce and Markus, heartfelt and emotional moments, and some hot romance. CJ Warrant, thank you for another entertaining and enjoyable story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Meghan Kelly is a talented narrator and voice artist. She brings these characters to life, giving each their own voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Her portrayal of each character is spot on, she grasps each character’s persona, makes them believable and sounding just as I picture them to sound. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the awesome listen🎧

great story

Loved this chance meeting/insta-lust between Charlie and Markus. Going back home for the funeral of his mother Markus meets Charlie the feisty librarian. Their connection was amazing and the family drama adds another level while Charlie just goes with him when he asks her to go home with him for the funeral. Audible narration: Loved the voice for this book, they really help bring life to these characters, very smooth transitions
