Publisher's Summary

Sometimes death is not the end....

Charley has a strange feeling when she sees the idyllic mill house with its cluster of outbuildings, the lake and the swirling mill stream - a powerful sense of recognition, as if she has been there before. Except she knows she hasn't.

After Charley and her husband, Tom, move into Elmwood Mill, sinister memories of a previous existence start to haunt her. Despite both their attempts to dismiss everything with rational explanations, the feeling turns to certainty as the memories become increasingly vivid and terrifying.

Charley is persuaded to undergo hypnosis - but in searching deep into her past, she unwittingly opens a Pandora's box of evil...and now the terror is free.

Loved this thriller about reincarnation!

Sweet Heart is beautifully descriptive in a way that’s not overdone. It continually kept my interest and had me wondering what was going to happen next.
Anna Acton is one of my favorite narrators. She is a true professional that brings this story to life. She is a master of giving each character its own voice from female to male to elderly to nasally tones to American accents. She really makes the story come alive.
I couldn’t stop listening and immediately listened a second time.

Wierd

Not my genre, just too creepy and not enough believable story, found myself skipping through seriously disturbing dialogue.

Well! Couldn’t put it down

I love the Roy Grace series, and Peter James, so bought this audiobook to experience another side of the author.s writings Started to listen yesterday, and through the night then finished the book this morning, it’s scary stuff. Only one tiny criticism in that the format is a little bit a la James Herbert, but this style was in vogue when the book was written. Will now enjoy exploring other non Roy Grace stories by Peter James..

Sent it back

I love Peter James books but gave up on this one quite early on.!.. The narrator was awful she just droned on and on.. Such a shame as I had been waiting months for the release of this novel.

Not sure

I'm a Peter James fan so downloaded this book as soon as it became available. It is very well written as you would expect, but I'm not sure it's my sort of genre. The narrator made it very difficult for me to enjoy the book as her male voices are a terrible growling rasp, and she has an annoying way of over pronouncing words.

I'll buy the book instead.

Had to get a refund on this because I couldn't tolerate the narrator's habit of portraying male voices by 'going a bit croaky'.

I just wanted the horror to STOP

Peter James has a brilliant writing style with some beautifully drawn descriptions, but I found parts of this very hard to listen to. The horror escalates to a degree where I thought it was too much. Any sane human being would not keep returning to a haunted old mill where the atmosphere is charged with hate and hideous things keep happening.
The storyline is intriguing in parts, from the dynamics between villagers, to the strained relationship between the two main characters (husband and wife). I didn't particularly like Tom and thought he was pompous. Charley I felt sorry for but she irritated me a bit, for no other reason than being a bit pathetic. The regressive therapy was by far the most engaging part, although even that went over the top. Fans of supernatural horror might like this, but it wasn't for me!
I just wanted the horror to STOP.

Good book to pass the time

Interesting interpretation of regression and the supernatural. Likeable main character and although the plot was a little predictable, the book held my interest all the way through. Wonderful performance by Anna Acton.
