Publisher's summary
Crumbling World
Family comes first - and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his from the looming storm.
Even before becoming a husband and father, safety had been Shane McDonald’s priority for most of his 45 years. As a nuclear engineer, it’s his responsibility to keep the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant functioning at optimum levels to avoid what protesters fear most: a meltdown.
But when a coronal mass ejection from the sun wipes out power across the globe, stopping a nuclear chain reaction is no longer his primary concern.
Fallen World
Family is all that matters when friend becomes foe - and the stakes are survival.
The world has become a dangerous place for Shane McDonald and his family since the solar storm wiped out the power grid. Tensions flare when it grows clear the dire situation will be prolonged and most are ill-prepared.
Even the friendly small town of his prepper mother-in-law has drawn unwanted attention as word gets around about sharing their supply stores. And strangers begin to infiltrate the once peaceful Georgia community.
All Shane can think about is where his wife and son ended up in all the chaos as the hours stretch into days since they last communicated. Jodi is far too trusting a soul, and her desire to help the downtrodden is a dangerous commodity among desperate and increasingly hostile citizens.
New World
They’ll protect what’s theirs - or die trying.
The McDonald clan have learned their lessons the hard way these last months. Shane and Jodi finally realize they must keep their reunited family close and protect their own above all others to survive in this new post-apocalyptic reality. The repairs on the home are complete, solar panels installed, and the now operational pump means they won’t have to continue collecting rainwater for the foreseeable future.
But it’s no longer just outsiders wreaking havoc on the small Georgia town, as unprepared townsfolk learn of their hard-earned stores and threaten to take their prepper supplies by force.

She writes Jody (mom) to be SO DUMB! IRRITATING!
UPDATE: This continued to be the theme of the book. Dumb, non- commonsense decisions by the characters,, especially the women... So disappointing. Very hard to keep listening to. What entire town in their right mind would sit and starve without putting together gathering teams, hunting teams, community kitchen from their finds??? Not to mention that she writes in the biker gang and then the community goes back to acting as though that threat is not just miles away? Come on... really?
REVIEW 1: I can't even imagine a woman being any dumber than to make mistakes Time After Time After Time. Misread people's intentions continually. Trusts strangers, leaves the house injured, leaving her kids alone inside, gets kidnapped... she is just ignorant and incapable of a good decision. I hate when women write women to be so stupid...

Blind girl and her dog attacked...
If you are sick of characters named Snake, Talon and Kade and your eyes roll after the 17th time a group get's hung up by a roadside trap.... skip this one!!!!
I was on board for a while and I could do a decent job ignoring that the author treats the reader (or listener) like we are children needing everything spelled out but the teen girl and her seeing eye dog being harassed at a gas station not even 24 hours in was just too much.
I get this is fiction but come on. Grown adults high or not would never have even gotten close to her.
Her father is from page to page either a complete doofus in his own world or 100% switched on. Please pick one or split him into 2 characters.
Then you have prepper granny who sees the world is due for a SHTF situation but is completely surprised by scumbags??? But if reading about a sweet old lady being tagged teamed by brothers who somehow are lifelong domestic abusers is your cup of tea, this could be your new favorite series.
Again... this is all within a few hours to a few days of a solar emp.
*I am really disappointed in the trend of authors in this genre treating their fans as incompetent idiots.
We seek out these books for a reason and spend good money in the hopes of a good story and maybe a few new ideas. Enough withe clichés please.
Some times I find myself wondering if this is like high school and they have to continually add words for the word count minimums. Groundhog's day needs to end.

Great series!
This is a wonderful series of books! They are perfect since one book leaves off the other starts up immediately and the story continues. It is fast paced and easily kept my interest. Always wondering what was happening with one of the other groups. I really came to care about the welfare of the characters. Through the books I was always worried when something happened to them. That ending is pretty exciting! I didn’t want to stop listening.
I liked the add of a couple different types of characters. The almost blind girl, the BAD boy (he is almost my favorite character), the sickly brother along with the cop and whole family. These characters added different elements to the story. They each had limitations that others could help them with.
Overall it’s a great set. The story drew me in and made me care about the characters. The characters are strong in all senses of the word. I did listen to this on audio. Chris Monteiro did a great job. He does wonderful with the different voices.

stupid dialog, standard end of the world plot.
Periods of grade school writing. Not even sophomoric. Hard to listen to. No more, I can't stand it! I really hate giving up so, OK I tried a few more chapters. The conclusion I've come to is this family is a bunch of idiots. Well not the characters but the author. Gracious is this bad. I'm finished.

A series worth to the end, but wanting more
This is my first three-book series that deals with mankind being stripped of all the luxury of life- power, cell phones, computers, everything that has a computer chip in it. When writing a three-book series on this, it can be complicated in so many ways- written wrong, missing details, missing overall struggles individually, as a couple, and family. There is so much intricate details to put in. This is not something you can pull out a hat.
No doubt it took Grace Hamilton a very long time to think this through. What made the book so compelling was because the author made it sound so real in many ways, that I started to think about what have I done to prepare my family in case of ANY kind of emergency when the power is out.
Another thing that I like about this book is the characters. When faced in a time of danger and protecting not only ones-self, but family, survival instincts are born and grown. But it isn't easy as pie. Survival is unpredictable for everyone. Each choice made to HELP SURVIVE is a gamble- a roll of the dice. You don't know what the end result will be based upon that choice. When living a life with technology and order, there is a routine, comfort, and care-free. The dice rolled has much less outcomes. And those outcomes are KNOWN. With surviving, there is the UNKNOWN.
I would compare this book of CHOICE and SURVIVAL to:
The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom: A story well worth reading of 6 escapee companions who crossed the trans-Siberian railway and headed south, climbing into Tibet and freedom in British India nine months later, in March 1942, having travelled over four thousand miles on foot. With only the clothes on their backs. However, some did not make it. But they had good leadership.
&
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage: A story where their ship was finally crushed between two ice floes near Antarctica, they attempted a near-impossible journey over 850 miles of the South Atlantic's heaviest seas to the closest outpost of civilization. At the end, all of the sailors survived because of leadership.
Both of these books are stories of facing the unknown. Survival, choices, and Leadership. Like these books and this book, all the characters were faced with many choices, but uncertain outcomes. Facing survival, even having the best of leadership and skills, does not guarantee that nothing wrong will happen.
So well done Grace! Narrator also did a great job as well.

GREAT Narration
The story has many characters & many twists and turns, some happy & some sad.
It shows all sides of humanity in the event of a disaster.
I gave the performance 5 stars
The story 4 stars.
The story was good, but was very simple writing with lacking in many different areas. It had great possibilities, but it seemed like the writer was not greatly experienced.
I was given the book for free at my request and I voluntarily left my review.

Disappointing
Was expecting something similar to A. AMERICAN novels instead you get a bunch of dumb characters putting themselves into easily spotted traps bc if their unwillingness to go against morales. Like getting upset about taking gas out of dead cars as one example. Save you credit or dollars

Loved this series !!!!!!
Wish there had been more of this series I really loved it . I have grown to like Grace Hamilton’s books. This is the second series of her’s I have listened to so far. Each very different from each other but I loved them both.
Also loved the way the characters seemed so real with the way she described each one. Will miss sweet Violet and her seeing eye dog Ruby.
And the narrator was great and look forward to hearing more of his readings. His different voices and accents were great and made the story more interesting.
I will highly recommend this series.

Fantastic Story.
I received this book via a promo code and this is my voluntary review.
This complete audio-series follows the McDonald family by Grace Hamilton. (Individual ebook's: Crumbling World, Fallen World & New World.) When a coronal mass ejection from the sun wipes out power across the globe, Shane's first priority is to stop a nuclear meltdown... the second is to get his family together someplace safe before the inevitable chaos kicks off. Several members of the McDonald family are hitting the road to get to Prepping Grand-momma Beth's house. The solar flare acted like an EMP and meant Shane,Violet & guide dog Ruby heading from the Sequeoh Nuclear Plant to Macon & Jodi, her brother Mike & son Owen heading from Mike's final chemo treatment at the hospital to get home to her mother & daughter Kaylee required a lot of luck and creative thinking. Newer cars no longer work, leaving many stranded. Store's were in chaos because plastic was useless and cash was king. Despite the trials and surviving the initial dangers, the real threat soon becomes apparent as neighbours begin turning hostile and food became more scarce. Cut-off and surrounded it becomes a desperate situation as the others in the community were reluctant to adapt to the new world, glibly expecting that in a few days or weeks the government they had become so dependant on, would fix the problem. Determined to stave off an even bigger catastrophe than the solar flare, they try to temper down a tyrannical mayor. The McDonald family try to encourage people to do the work to help themselves, starting a community garden, canning workshops etc but old habits die hard and people are having a difficult time letting go of the old world. Other's with their eye on the quaint little town, however, are having no such issue embracing the new anarchy. I loved the character's, there's such life breathed into this story by Chris Monteiro's narration and the combination of the author's obvious love of the survivalist ethos creates such depth that it makes you want to fashion your own bug out bag and sign up for a bushcraft course.

Brilliant vision of a possible future
Wow, some book! A view of a possible future for all of us. A large Coronal Mass Ejection fries all all of the power grid and electronics in the US and other countries and throws the country into chaos. This book is a thrilling description of how quickly humanity can turn civilisation into anarchy. We follow the story of one family who has to fight for survival amidst gun wielding neighbours and rogue biker gangs. Thrills and excitment all the way. A really great listen, well narrated - and don't forget- it could happen tomorrow!

Always carefully planned out by world-famous Prepper and Survivalist Wolf Henderson, season 10 promises to be different. This time none of the contestants are survivalists.
