Publisher's summary

I knew better. My heart doesn't care....

This wasn't supposed to happen. Marshal Howard is a death wish wrapped in mystery. Over six feet of hulking muscle that screams "leave me the hell alone". Cold, rude, insanely overprotective single dad. Everyone in our little town warned me to stay far, far away. I didn't listen.

I answered the castoff's nanny ad because no one else would. I got too close. I saw through his vicious reputation. I found the impossible. A call to reckless nights entangled and on fire. My destroyer in every kiss. A man who's turning my heart inside out, making me a fool.

So what if his pillow talk tears the stars from the sky and lays them in my trembling fingers? I haven't lost my mind.

If it was just the bad blood with him and my family, maybe we'd work through this. Maybe we'd find paradise. Just me, him, and that adorable little girl.

But surprises come in threes. Like the lines on the pregnancy test.

How do I love this beast and have his baby when fate keeps giving us a big fat middle finger?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - a single dad romance with heart! Total stand-alone novel, an alpha male protector off his chain, and a heartwarming happily ever after.

...Wow...Just wow. Unexpectedly Soul Touching

I am sorry to say I started this book with very low expectations. I’m new to the author and I think the title played a big part in that. I hope the author can change it to something that reflects the true depth of this story. Because now I too want someone special beside me who vows they will find me again as I take my last breathes.
Well, I have never been more happy to be so very wrong. I’m in awe. This story is absolutely amazing.
The narrator performances are fantastic. I think their voices are a perfect match to the characters. It truly brought them to life.
The writing... I was blown away. I’d like to say I’m speechless and leave it at that because I’m not sure I can do the praise enough justice but I’d like to try.
This author is so very talented. At times parts of it were like poetry. Powerful and moving. Soul touching.
I didn’t cry until the end but it was a good cry because the HEA is beautiful! I wish everyone was blessed with a love like these characters share. The world would be so different.
Anyhow, I would absolutely recommend this book. It’s the best one I’ve read/listened to in awhile.
To the writer: thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I look forward to more of your work.

🌻The ugliness of war 😡

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

The flawed characters , in this book, are victims of the ugly reality of war and uncorrectable mistakes. Therefore, a lot of the flashbacks have disturbing descriptions. There are instances of surviver’s guilt, fits of rage due to PTSD and plans of revenge. However, their are also beautiful demonstrations of a father’s devotion, protection and sacrifice.

This is not an insta-love story, but rather, a slow burn growing affection and respect.

This isn’t a great work of literature but, if you can overlook the predictability and the Hero’s ridiculously quick change of heart, you’ll likely find yourself reasonably entertained.

A new twist on the babysitter trope

I loved watching Sadie’s development in this book. At the begging, she seemed like a doormat. She was okay bending to her parents and brothers wills slightly. She seemed younger. Then HE comes along and he’s damaged.

Marshall’s development is beautiful. There were times, at the begging, where honestly his PTSD scares me. I have friends who’ve served and they’ve talked about stuff and when he talks about things I see it as being very real. His drive at the beginning made me nervous because I was afraid for him. His development and love for his baby girl and his growing feelings for Sadie just made me want him to be better. He was easy to love.

The narrators were good. They weren’t as well known to me but still easy to get lost in. I liked the performance and find no faults with it.

So-

Sexy times- all the time. Nicole Snow books equal sexy times guys. If you didn’t know, FOR SHAME! Go gather all those up and listen till your ears bleed.
Wounded heroes- 2. Her brother is a grade double A juice box tho.
Unplanned pregnancies- 2. I mean, he’s got one unplanned kiddo and the title literally says surprise daddy. This can’t be a shocker peeps.

Unbelievable

If you think you know what this book will be like based upon the summary, you’re so wrong. This book has so many twists, turns, facets, changes of direction. It’s quite unbelievable. There was one point I was so worried about the direction the book was going to take I was afraid to keep reading.

And the sex scenes are wonderful.

Surprise Daddy – Sadie and Marshall

This was a pretty good book. Unfortunately, I was not able to connect with Marshall. He had such a hard edge even when involved in the romantic scenes. Sadie, on the other hand, was a complete doormat and I wanted to b!tch slap some sense into her. Marshall was extremely rude but after Sadie goes to work for him as his daughter’s nanny, he mellowed out just a bit. Her mother was nuts (but sane at times) and her poor father was trying to take care of her. Her brother, Jackson, was a total b@stard who practically dictated Sadie’s life and she let him. Jackson and Marshall did not get along because of something really bad that happened when they were in the service. After Marshall and Sadie were together, Jackson tried to set him up for a crime and Marshall escapes town with his daughter. I really enjoy Nicole Snow’s books but this title just didn’t fit for me. Marshall was more like Single Dad and the surprise was a really nice one near the end. It felt like it took a while to get to the happy ending on this book. Aletha George and Douglas Berger did a very good job with the narration.

Disappointed

I am a huge fan of Nicole Snow, but this one was seriously lacking. I didn't feel the connection between Marshal and Sadie. One minute he is snarley and rude the next he's in love. From the previous reviews it sounded like all he wanted and thought about was sex but that wasn't how I heard it. His obsession with revenge stood out more.

Heartwarming!

When I listen or read books like these they touch me. Single person with a child trying to make it in this world. This maybe a book of fiction but it could be someone's story. The narrators did an excellent job. I am glad this is a standalone because it is finished and has a happy ending!
