Dreadful Narrator

As ever with Cathy Dobson the most ghoulish aspect of the tale is her annoying Voice with her peculiar inflections and annoying sometimes tongue-in-cheek rendering of What should be suspense and mystery. She should be prohibited from narrating and all her recordings annihilated

Good stories, terrible narration

For those who only know E E Nesbit from the "Railway Children" these ghost stories will be a revelation. If you like the classic style of writers like M R James you will like these. OK - if they are so good, why the one star. Easy - the tales are spoiled by the laboured, mannered narration. Before you buy, please do what I did not - listen to the sample. I've managed to listen to the first tale only because it was one I didn't know and wanted to get to the end. I cannot listen to the rest the narration is just too annoying.

Could have done with a quick edit

Love Edith Nesbit's horror stories and the reader was great, but what really began to irk me where pauses, page turns and things like hesitations or coughs that should have been edited out in production.
