Publisher's summary

Morgan's life is not easy. Growing up on the streets of City Four, he is constantly shunned by the other citizens. Morgan doesn't mind being ignored. What he does mind, though, are the constant beatings from the city guards due to his friendship with Sarah, the city lord's only daughter. Lord Simon wants him dead, but the laws of the kingdom are on Morgan’s side and even the guards won't kill him, just for being seen near his manor.

Morgan’s time is running out, though. Lord Simon has deep pockets and his last visit to the manor may just have put him over the edge. Worse, he is nearing his 16th birthday, and has yet to awaken any abilities. In a world where might makes right, he has never been one of the mighty. What will he do when faced with a life altering decision and just how will his decision impact those around him?

Very enjoyable, exited for book 2

This book had what I feel a lot of litrpg are missing, and that's a good plot. It showed me who the characters were and what they are willing to do. I could have done without the abusive side character, but I understand why he was there.

The narrator was fine. Some of the female characters started to sound the same, but the guy nailed some of the other voices.

awsome

This book captures attention with it's action and imagination. I can't wait for the story to continue in the coming books.

whats wrong with the main character

main character, autistic, dumb, or what. I have never written a true review. but the main characters stupidity towards what sex is baffles me. Even if a 15 year old has never been tought anything about sex they still have hormones and tend to want to plug prong A into slot B. The rest of the characters in the story seem to be aware. So i am hoping for a written reveal that maybe explains his not wanting or understanding what his "man hood" is used for.

(amended spoiler)
second book answers my real complaint with the first book. Thank you Aaron for making it clear.

On a side note i am intrigued by the world and I see myself reading and or listening to the next book. It is simply written and allows you to work or do other tasks in between chapters without losing much.

Narration often didn't match the mood.

The story was pretty cool and the abilities are neat.
MC is for some reason aloof when it comes to social situations. it's explained that he grew up on the streets, but for how ignorant he is to socializing and relationships, you'd think he grew up in a cave.
I had to get used to the narration. often the narrator didn't convey emotions of the scene at all. Voices weren't too bad, but I'm guessing he's just new to narrating as he was getting better toward the end somewhat. To be fair the story makes it seem like the characters aren't really all that affected by violence and killing despite being very young. Unless someone is being blown apart and blood goes everywhere, they're kind of nonchalant about it lol. Story was still fun and narrator needs more experience, but I'm just spoiled by performances of really good narrators from other books I've listened to. Worth the credit if you like action, magic, and skill progression. It's like a bloody action anime, but dubbed. I got my credits worth though I think.

great story but voices could use work

story development is great, bit the voices for the two main characters could use some distinction.

not as simple as it first appears.

this book felt and read like it was meant for someone who had never experienced anything in this genre before. but by the end of it, I had thoroughly enjoyed the minor twists and turns that gave it personality and individuality. while reading the first half of the book I thought I would only read the first one and give the next book in the series a pass. but now that I finished it, I am totally hooked. it's still a young adult book. so I doubt it'll get any more complex. but I am a man of simple mind, that just wants to turn his brain off while he works. 9/10 perfect for killing a couple of hours with a main character with steady power growth

Very funny

Good story. The protagonist is way too dense... Good mix of elements of low and high fantasy settings with modern RPG terminology to make it plausible.
