Team Puck

I enjoyed this novella and getting to peek into Puck's mind. I've always secretly been Team Puck.

Josh Hurley does a good job as Puck, and speaks very clearly, but there were moments when his delivery seemed a little forced. Of course, it must be hard to step into a character mid-series when Khristine Hvam has done such a superb job with the other books.

Puck's POV, Thank the Gods!

Where does Summer's Crossing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Summer's Crossing ranks fifth or sixth among the numerous audiobooks I've listened to so far. Josh Hurley brings such life to Puck and it was such an answer to a secret wish for The Iron Fey series that it was destined to rate highly.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite character in this was Puck. I loved how mixed up he was in his thought process, and yet he was able to create a plan that allowed him space to change his mind about what he ultimately wanted to do. I admire the character's cunning and I love the energy that Josh Hurley brings to Puck in particular.

What does Josh Hurley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Josh Hurley brings life to Puck, and sass to Grimalkin. Without Josh Hurley I would have had to rely on the imaginary echo of goofy sass and it's so much more heartening to hear it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh several times.

Any additional comments?

This is a nice break from Meghan Chase's annoying Mary-Sue tendencies and most of Ash's troubling level of angst while remaining within the world of The Iron Fey.

Love Puck, but hated the narration

I was so excited when I saw this because Puck is my favorite character by far (forever team Puck), but I was so distracted by the narrator that I couldn’t fully enjoy it. For one, he sounds like he’s 12, which is the opposite of Puck’s age. He also did not have the sarcastic, sassy voice/personality necessary for his character and seemed to have realized the tone of things halfway through sentences multiple times, which he would then try to recover from and it just made it strange and sometimes even confusing to listen to. He also made Ash sound like a little b***h, which was mildly infuriating because Ash is a badass and this also resulted in the chemistry of the two best friends to be completely lost. This short had so much potential and I will be devastated if they choose him again to narrate The Iron Raven when it’s released next year.

The story itself was great though. Clever and humorous, just as I hoped it would be. I just had to reword some things in my head the way I knew he would have actually said them to fully enjoy it.

It can be better

I love this series and I love Puck's personality, but not so much the audio. Puck's personality was finely portrayed, but Ash's personality... it just made him sound like he's bored, not the icy personality that he's supposed to have.

Good story. Good narration!

A nice story staring Robin Goodfellow and the young Prince Ash, from the winter court. it gives an insiders view of their long time relationship.

I adore this series

my only complaint is that it was over too quickly! One of the best fantasy series out there.

Not the right choice of a narrator for this story

While the short story itself was decent, the narration was awful. The voices for different characters were hard to listen to. I'm sure he's great in other audiobooks, but this was a terrible match

Not arrogant enough

It seems like Puck would be arrogant in a playful sort of way the narrator read well but he sounded too young for a Fais that’s been around for gazillion years he still did a good job it just didn’t sound like Puck
I like the way the story ended better than the rest of them it was a good ending and it turned out well
