Publisher's summary

After the hard winter of 1888 ended Alby Boyle’s work as a Nebraska ranch hand, he returned to New York City in search of his long-lost family. His mother and brothers are nowhere to be found, however, and after Alby’s years of absence, Five Corners no longer feels like home. His prospects seem as dim as the nighttime alleys.

When Alby pauses to admire an angel ornament in a department store window’s Christmas display, he meets Xeno Varnham-Summerfield. Wealthy, handsome, and enthusiastic, Xeno brings Alby some temporary cheer. But for Alby to achieve his dreams of love and a real home, well, that may take a bit of holiday magic.

Fantastic addition to a fantastic series

Kim Fielding is such a great writer! She excels at giving us less than charming situations with guys who probably shouldn’t be together and finding a way to make it appealing and possible nonetheless!

I learned some stuff about New York’s Cowboys in the 1800s! That was fascinating! Also – a bit about the YMCA – which was also cool.

I loved the HEA our guys got and I was so touched by the angel’s work in this story.

This was very sweet and highly enjoyable.

Audio

KC Kelly was the perfect choice to narrate this! He does a great job with both the “aristocrat” and the “country” inflections and is a joy to listen to!

Highly recommended!

Christmas Angel

I've read most of this series and enjoyed each one. I don't usually listen to audio books but have to say that I honestly enjoyed it. The narrator has a very nice voice and gives each character their own unique accent that i really liked. Alby and Xeno although from different social classes were drawn together by the Christmas angel and by the fact that at heart they really wanted the same things. I highly recommend this book not just at Christmas but anytime you want something warm and comforting to lighten your day.

The Cure For What Ails You

I was in a bit of a gloomy mood when I picked this up. That didn't last for long. This is the kind of story that ignites a tiny fire in your heart and keeps you warm all day. The setting of 19th century New York is perfect for Alby and Xeno's courtship where casual coupling was common, but the hope of a loving relationship was rare. Listening to Alby and Xeno work toward an HEA was a treat. Highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed my trip back to the 1880's

Delightfully entertaining Christmas story. Well written with great characters and just enough spice.

KC Kelly does a great job bringing the characters to life.

This is book 2 in the series, the angel ornament being the common element amongst the stories.
Each book can be read/listened to on its own.

Sweet Christmas story

This was my first book in the Christmas Angel series, and it won't be my last. Each book in the series can be read/listened to as a standalone as they are complete and separate stories.

Summerfield's Angel is set in New Yok in 1888, Where Alby Boyle has arrived from Nebraska a in search of his family. So much has changed since he was forced to leave. He spies a Christmas Anel in a window store, and while mesmerised by the ornament he's almost run over by a trolley - but is saved at the last moment by the handsome and charming young Xeno Varnham.

On the outside they seem to have nothing in common, Xeno comes from wealth with all the privilege that entails while Alby is a ranch hand from Nebraska with a simple outlook in life; food in his belly and a warm place to stay. Despite their differences they keep running into each other and as things usually goes, one thing leads to another...

I wasn't totally sold on K.C. Kelly's narration of this book, mainly because it felt flat and uninspiring. From the beginning I found myself spacing out and forgetting to listen, On the other hand, I loved that he had such distinct voices for Alby and Xeno, there was never any question who was speaking and that part was easy to follow along.

In do think I'd have enjoyed this story much more, had I read it instead of listening to it. Because as it was I never connected to it or felt invested in the characters. Which is a shame, because all things considered, this is a story that I should have loved.

Summerfield's Angel was sweet holiday story where Christmas miracles do happen and love really can conquer all.
