Publisher's summary

Knitting and life. They're both about beginnings - and endings. That's why it makes sense for Lydia Goetz, owner of A Good Yarn on Seattle's Blossom Street, to offer a class called Knit to Quit. It's for people who want to quit something - or someone! - and start a new phase of their lives.

First to join is Phoebe Rylander. She recently ended her engagement to a man who doesn't know the meaning of faithful, and she's trying to get over him. Then there's Alix Turner. She and her husband, Jordan, want a baby, which means she has to quit smoking. And Bryan Hutchinson joins the class because he needs a way to deal with the stress of running his family's business - not to mention the lawsuit brought against him by an unscrupulous lawyer.

Life can be as complicated as a knitting pattern. Just ask Anne Marie Roche. She and her adopted daughter, Ellen, finally have the happiness they wished for. And then a stranger comes to her bookstore asking questions.

Or ask Lydia herself. Not only is she coping with her increasingly frail mother, but she and Brad have unexpectedly become foster parents to an angry, defiant 12-year-old.

But as Lydia already knows, when life gets difficult and your stitches are snarled, your friends can always help!

The naration was a problem

Would you try another book from Debbie Macomber and/or Delilah?

I plan to eventually read all of Debbie Macomber books, but will avoid any more books that are read by this particular narrator. She really does a poor job of following the story with her voice.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Delilah?

Eby Sirois did an excellent job with a Debbie Macomber book.

Narrative

I've read the negative reviews on Delilah's narrating and I'm appalled! No she wasn't the best I've heard but she by far was not the worst.
She read like she reads on her show what did you expect. She's been doing the radio show for so long of course she's going to read that way. I know she did much better than I could do!

Seriously, the worst narrator ever.

Would you try another book from Debbie Macomber and/or Delilah?

I have read several Debbie Macomber books and this one was not her best, but was a very good story. I am already listening to another Macomber book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Summer on Blossom Street?

The most memorable moment was of course Casey being told that Brad, Lydia, and Cody were going to adopt her.

Would you be willing to try another one of Delilah’s performances?

No - her voice inflections were often inappropriately placed and annoying.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes I would.

Any additional comments?

Delilah's voice in and of itself was not annoying, but the inflections were over the top. When you listen to a story, you want it to sound like you were reading it yourself. We are not expecting a dramatization of the story - especially not a bad one.

Don't like the narrator.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think the story is about the same as the others but the narrator has such a screechy voice, mispronounces words and has been reading one line in the book twice. I have not encountered this with the other Macomber books and I've listened to a lot. It is hard to listen bc of the narrator.

Loved the book.

Loved the story, but narrators voice and expressions were not in sync with type of book. Her voice had a stiffness to it.

This was the most painful book to get through.

What did you like best about Summer on Blossom Street? What did you like least?

I didnt want to miss out on the story but the narrator was horrible. She should stick to her radio show which she is excellent at. I cant tell you the number of times I turned off the book to take a break from the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ann Marie

What didn’t you like about Delilah’s performance?

Her voice is too harsh and there was no distintion between the story and the speaking parts.
She just read the book to me.

Could you see Summer on Blossom Street being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No clue

Any additional comments?

Keep this series going.

Terrible Narration!

I very much enjoy Ms. Macomber's novels and must are told so beautiful and soothing. However, this narrator is loud, one note and did not give individuality to the character's. Very hard to get through this story.

Why is Delilah narrating books???

Would you listen to Summer on Blossom Street again? Why?

NO! Not unless someone else tells the story

Would you be willing to try another one of Delilah’s performances?

NO!!! I will look to make sure she is not reading a story before I buy another audio version. She hurried through her performance and made me sorry I bought the audio version. I have bought and listened to over 150 audio books and she is the worst reader I have encountered.
