Absolutely amazing book!

This book has really helped me to examine my intentions behind my actions and then revise my thinking to be more whole-hearted. I have learned a lot about my own disordered thoughts and behaviors, where they might stem from, and what to do about them.

Helpful and encouraging.

This is a time to actually consider what was just read, consider what needs to be done if one is to incorporate that step into one’s life and create a plan to practice that choice regularly. I found this book to be helpful and encouraging. The author offers no guarantees of how changes will occur only that these “guideposts” made, and continue to make, a difference in her life.

Great book.

I now find myself recognizing destructive cycles and breaking the thought chain before it can spiral out of control. That has drastically improved my life and my relationships. This book has been a tremendous blessing in disguise as I venture out into life on my own post-college.

This is a great book that gives a concise overview

This is a great book that gives a concise overview of various concepts. What was different about this book compared to others in this category, is that author does not just rely on her own singular experiences to teach, but rather the experiences of countless others she has interviewed over many years.

Nice!

The most fundamental human needs into words that really come to life and make sense and get people to talk about them and put them into practice. I have grown up in a generally healthy social and family life. I have been to college, grown up in a strong religious background and community, my parents being missionaries, and I think I have more or less been happy.

Well informative.

The book is well worth a listen for anyone who feels too caught up in what we think life is supposed to be. The author has written a book to help one have the courage to show up and let ones true self be seen.

Excellent book.

Such a clear, entertaining, heartbreaking, funny, poignant, and entirely authentic way. I truly believe her work and message of living wholeheartedly by embracing your vulnerabilities, recognizing your shame triggers, and working to embrace your imperfections is so critically important.

Helpful.

I'm a perfectionist which means nothing is perfect and it gets to me. I like he book because it sets you free from perfectionism so you can be free to live for the day and be content.

Useful information.

The information and perspective here was VERY helpful. Whether or not you suffer from perfectionism and have a critical nature, the Gifts of Imperfection will enable you to better recognize shame and deal with it. Shame IS universal. This is an important book.

This book spoke to me so much.

This book spoke to me so much that I turned around and bought five more for my mother, sister, niece, and two cousins. It was a very positive punch to the gut. The author explains shame and fear in such a way that you can't help but just let them go. My deepest gratitude for finding this awesome book.

Changing my mind.

Changing my mind on listening this was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I have ever made and I am a much better person for it. I don't guarantee very much, due to my skeptical nature; but, I think I can guarantee that something in this book will profoundly change you.

MUST LISTEN!!

I've struggled with depression for nearly twenty years, never could finish anything I started, and everyone always assumed I had ADHD. Not until therapist number five did someone point out to me that ADHD is often mistaken for anxiety and he was sure that was my problem. It really spoke to me, so I thought it would be a good idea.

Loved this book!

I recommend you listen this. Her writing and stories have truly opened my eyes to the reality of hiding behind my own perfectionism. I never considered myself a perfectionist because no matter how hard I tried I never felt anything I did was good enough.

Greater happiness.

The author talks a lot about how making a major change in your life isn't something you wake up and do one day, it's something you practice every single day. And most will struggle with it, but without the struggle, we lose out on so much. I will have far fewer regrets on my deathbed having listen this book.

I love this book!

I love this book! The author is able to put to works so many feelings many of us have on a daily basis. She talks a lot about shame, being a shame researcher, and how we are not meant to live with it at all! You can be free of shame and learn to know yourself the way God intended.

One of the most impactful books I have ever listen. This is a book that I plan to read over and over again. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in self-development.

Good look up book.

This book opened my eyes to how my own perfectionism has truly held me back as a person. I have succeeded to the rest of the world, but never acknowledged my success for myself. Thank you, dear for sharing your awakening and helping me on my path to live wholeheartedly!

Great Resource!!!

I usually have a hard time with books from the Self Help section-so many that I've started are so breezy and give you simple "to do" lists. This book is different from most of what I've seen in the self help genre, and for those who like the simple "to do" lists, this will probably not be the book to use.
