Excellent overview.

It focuses on the summary Leonardo kept throughout his life, providing a fresh perspective on a figure whose life and work were balanced in a way that still astonishes.

A word of caution:this book is for serious listeners who should be prepared to spend a good deal of time on it.

Good summary.

This is a fascinating listen that will challenge everything you think you know about Leonardo da Vinci. The enigmatic icon revered for his unparalleled contributions to art and science was, in fact, a flawed man, easily distracted and not disciplined to deliver on time

Nice Book!

Leonardo's personality emerges in a far more convincing way in this book than in other biographies of him I have seen in earlier years. His discoveries in physics were particularly impressive, and since he never published anything, they had to be painstakingly rediscovered 100 or even 200 years later. I enjoyed the inside (and often intimate) look at a unique genius, and this book makes me realize more than ever just how unique he was.

Nice overview.

I found it as informative as it could probably, possibly, ever be, and learned a lot I didn't know. As an obsessive visual artist myself, I did feel a kinship with Leonardo, who was hard-working but sometimes couldn't live up to his promises when it came to completing large commissioned projects, etc.

Good overview.

The book is large but filled with information that carries you along through the life of Leonardo, from his boyhood and apprentice days, until his time of most profound creativity.

Like.

I was left with the feeling that Leonardo would make a wonderful dinner companion, an interesting neighbor, but possibly a challenging friend, who would be well worth the effort. He was brilliant, and we are all better because of the legacy he left.

Literary history at its best.

This was a compelling listen. It is a well-researched biography that read nearly like a novel. Literary history at its best.

Very good book!

A comprehensive biography of a fascinating man. Isaacson’s clear, lucid, prose manages to portray the man and his near-infinite number of interests without becoming tedious or repetitive.

Loved this book!

Walter Isaacson is amazing. How he manages to recreate a life story that occurred 500 years ago is an amazing feat. He brings forth an image of Leonardo that is a vivid recounting of his accomplishments but most importantly his mindset during his creations.

Excellent book.!!!

Walter Isaacson does a wonderful job portraying the life of Leonardo da Vinci. The text goes more or kess in chronological order and is, in my opinion, the best biography of Leonardo out there.

Awesome.

This book would appeal most to those interested in art history and the development of painting. Certainly da Vinci is a large part of that. Even after this biography, da Vinci remains a rather obscure fellow.

Nice Summary!!

Brilliant, passionate and personal work by the author who utilizes a direct speaking voice to the reader very effectively. His conversational approach in portraying this genius humanizes the subject and really serves to give us a very complete picture.

Some quick thoughts on some of the many reasons I've liked everything I've listen by Isaacson....including this awesome book.

Most definitely changed my life!

This book is just delightful! The longer you listen, the more you realize that the author fell in love with Leonardo the more he wrote about him and as he got to know him better - and he makes the reader fall in love with Leonardo too. Leonardo's curiosity is deep and constant.

SO GOOD!!

Excellent in depth look at the life and times of one of the most brilliant human beings that graced the earth. I thought the author did an amazing biography and felt it was thoroughly researched and touched on so many areas of who he was and why he behaved as he did.

An extraordina biography.

An extraordinary biography by an extraordinary biographer! As leader of the Aspen Institute, Isaacson uses his unique wholistic insight to show how the intersection of culture, science, philosophy and art were boiled together and distilled into a truly seminal figure in Western thought.
