Publisher's Summary

An entrepreneur, writer, and professional blogger, Rachel Hollis has made a career out of helping women reach their fullest potential.

In Girl, Wash Your Face, she tackles many of the lies women are told and, more importantly, that they tell themselves.

Drawing from her own experiences, Hollis addresses each lie within the context of an anecdote. Each illustrates how negative self-talk and poor self-image can hold you back.

By realizing the truth, however, you can free yourself from self-destructive behavior and learn how to enjoy yourself, getting the most out of each day.

This review can help you learn more deeply and get more from the original book. It includes:

  • A short author biography
  • A chapter-by-chapter summary of the book
  • A summary of each strategy the author used to dispel a lie
  • And more!

Great content to get you started. Definitely one of those books you would highlight in and go back to often. I'll certainly purchase the paperback version too.

highly suggested

I first found about author during a particularly low day after my son's diagnosis with adhd. I was feeling really down about everything and my abilities as a mom. I searched youtube and found author.

works best

In each chapter, author starts with a lie you tell yourself, provides examples from her own life illustrating it, then lists the tools she used (or wished she had) that help overcome the lie.

Decent summary/odd reading

The summary was fine, but I was distracted by the odd reading of the book. The voice is pleasent. At times the reading was fine, but at other times it was almost robotic.

Most Useful.

This book is a healthy dose of tough love, inspiration and humor that reads like you’re talking with your girlfriend over coffee. The author tackles the tough lies we tell ourselves as women and how to move past them.

Great summary.

The one thing that resonated most for me was that, we as women need to be kind to ourselves, and one another. It is time that we start to work harder to show ourselves the care we would show another person in our lives without question.

Good coverage.

An inspiring book where author openly and honestly shares the trials and triumphs she has encountered throughout her life. She encourages women everywhere to persevere and to not allow trauma to keep you from achieving dreams and goals.
