Publisher's Summary

US Navy SEALs lead to win - right? In this audiobook, Jocko Willink and Leif Babin - two Navy SEAL leaders - outline lessons they learned in their time in the military.

They have taken the principles of SEAL leadership and applied them to the business world.

In this guide, you’ll get a brief explanation of principles such as:

  • Taking extreme ownership
  • There are no bad teams, only bad leaders
  • Believe (in the mission)
  • Check the ego
  • Cover and move
  • Simplify everything
  • Prioritize and execute
  • Decentralized command
  • And so much more

These leaders explain the concept from the perspective of the SEAL teams and then take them and explain how they fit into the business world - and how they were used to turn a negative business situation around.

The authors of this audiobook have seen these principles work time and time again. That is why they believe them to be effective.

This really helped me.

This really helped me focus my efforts on the concepts and principles that are mentioned in this book. I already had a partial understanding of many concepts the authors discuss but they were not well honed or wielded.

Like it.

This is an excellent book. It appears at first to be a bit dry, but once you adapt to the author's style of writing, the switches between combat and corporate world are entertaining, and the lessons learned are quite applicable in the day to day world.

It discuss how it applies to the corporate world, and then finally they discuss a case study about one of their clients. I thought the book was empowering and really made me buy into the idea of extreme ownership.

Easy to follow.

I thought this analogy was interesting, and one I had never really thought of, but it’s true. There are many parallels between SEAL leadership, and leading a company.

Good summary.

I really enjoyed the audible book. I found it interesting, engaging and informative. It also reinforced many of the leadership traits I learned as a platoon sergeant in the Marine Corps.

Excellent job.

The book, while not highlighting anything new in the world of leadership, does an excellent job at highlighting practical examples of leadership concepts in action from the battlefield. The book is easy to listen and wonderfully ties in these concepts to real business situations.

Explain good.

I have listen numerous accounts of special forces training and operations as well as dozens of books on management, self improvement and leadership. This book actually provides real life guidance on leadership, personal growth and decision making based upon hard choices made by SEAL operators in combat.

Informative.

Most interesting leadership book I've ever listen. It is broken into a section showing the leadership skill used in the field by the Seals, then explained in detail, then shown in the business world.

Most definitely changed my life!

This book is a lesson in leadership starting with yourself and holding you accountable for everything. If we tolerate bad performance, behavior, tactics or actions; that becomes our standard. This book should be required of all new leaders and future leaders.
