Publisher's Summary

A Brief History of Time is a famous work of popular science. The famous physicist, in some ways successor to Isaac Newton and Einstein, explains complex concepts in astronomy and physics in a way that anyone can understand.

Stephen Hawking believed strongly that everyone, at one time or another, asks a few basic questions, such as "How did the universe begin?" and "How does the universe work?" While we don't have complete answers for these questions, or any of the others posed in the book, Hawking did his best to outline our understanding of these questions.

If you've ever wondered where the universe came from and where it is going, this book is for you. This audio summary and review can help you understand the book with:

  • A biography of the author
  • Biographies of a few other influential physicists
  • A chapter-by-chapter summary of the book
  • And much more!

I feel smarter now

He touches many topics that are hard to mention all, but to name a few: the main forces in our universe, different theories throughout history, particles, black holes, light, realities, etc. I really enjoyed listening it and I recommend it to anybody that may want to increase their knowledge about these topics.

Nice introduction to the theoretical physics

A Brief History of Time is a good book worth book but much discussion should also be on expanding man's mind to observe the universe in ways not even imagined. listen it in a quite room, give yourself lots of time, and concentrate. You may have to go back a few times to absorb it all.

Great Knowledge

Hawking explains all the basic principles of physics in a very simple manner so that everyone can understand it. He addresses the question of what caused the beginning of the universe and existence. I admire his way of thinking and how he is able to connect all these different scientific and philosophical ideas into one book

Inspirational and thought provoking

I think it would be impossible to cover this subject that way in its entirety. One thing I did find very interesting is the way theories are proposed and then models are developed to test them. Then further theories are developed to correct flaws and science progresses.

A Good Scientific Book to Listen to

Having this available on Audible is very welcome! I only wish that it was narrated by Dr. Hawking's own 'voice' instead of the person who is reading it. It would have meant a lot more and really made this text a first-class work.

Unique one

One of my favorite things I learned about him was that he places bets with other scientists against his own theories being true. This way if he was wrong about the science he would at least have won something.
I highly recommend this book it is a good eye-opener into how universe works.

Out Of This World

For those seeking to explore the mindset of the most prominent men of science and to discover the questions they are asking in their quest for answers, this book will not disappoint. If you have even a basic interest in astronomy or physics, this book should be an essential part of your library.

Covered very Well

The concepts covered in this book are complex, but Dr. Hawking has explained them in the most accessible way possible - quite a feat, requiring in-depth and thorough understanding of the material

Listen and Enjoy

Great physicists and scientists throughout history. You will not regret listening to it, especially if you love to hear about a complex subject like physics explained in layman's terms, from a physicist who feels passion for science and discovery, and speaks from the heart.

Love it..!!

I am enough of a geek to both understand and laugh at Steven Hawking's many nerd jokes. His passion for the field was evident and catchy - I think I am a little smarter for having read it. I love the bets he made with colleagues on various theories; those admissions made it seem less like a text book and more like you were listening to him. I'm glad the book club chose it.

Surprised.

Stephen Hawking takes a fascinating but incredibly complicated subject and breaks it down. While he clearly has brilliant mind he does not forget that some of us do not. He speaks to us all. Everyone should listen this at least once.

Good Summary.

Pretty interesting. The advanced physics has been sufficiently talked down so that a layman can understand the key concepts, if not the math. I liked listening about how black holes and stars work, and about quarks

Fantastic Book!!!

This fascinating scientific text for the non-scientific reader has been updated and enhanced beyond Hawking's original. Complicated topics are clarified to facilitate greater understanding.

Genious.

A fascinating book, but there was a lot that was above my head. I wish the book came with a supplement - kind of like the "cliff notes" that were available when I was in college that could explain some of the more difficult concepts. But it is clear that Stephen Hawking was a true genius

Fantastic. Enjoy this book.

This book attempts to describe in plain language the theories surrounding the beginning and the structure of the universe. For a non scientist, it becomes difficult to listen at times when a theory is discussing in details.
