A thought-provoking audiobook.

A thought-provoking audiobook about the children who have learned about their time and date of their death and struggled to make their life worthwhile before death catches them. It was deeply moving and I got teary-eyed in the process of listening to it.

It has made a big impact on me.

I don’t know. I have mixed feelings about this when I read the description. And yet it seems really puzzling that I indulge e myself to it. It has made a big impact on me. Convincing me to reflect on things and as the story nears the ending, it became more interesting.

The future

An excellent character study of some very interesting people. He presents the problem of allowing a past memory to define the future and the present. Excellent writing and enjoyable.

You Cannot Put This audible Book Down!

haunts the Gold children as they struggle through their complicated and attenuated lives. The author’s own words reflect that power, being somehow, both lush and spare. The richly realized characters populating the pages of this book will linger with you long after you stop listening the words.

Fantastic

Such an unusual book. The characters are well formed, and have interesting stories. I was uncomfortable with some of the scenes and had to put the book aside for a few hours, and then would pick it back up and devour it.

great listen for book groups

A very interesting view of a topic I've never listen of before. Lots of things for us to ponder.. how much of our life would be predetermined if we knew certain things.. a difficult subject handled VERY well.. great listen for book groups!

Best one!

The family this story shares has 4 children & 2 parents who were both immigrants from Germany & Hungary trying to survive in NYC in the 1940's. The characters were real. The children decided to visit a fortune teller one day, and this changed their lives. A very interesting book! Good listen!

Like Magic: a magic wand ending

Wonderful characters. Didn’t think she could tie it all together, but he did. Historically important as well. Real magic explored on many levels.

Beautifully listen; interesting

I could not put down this audible book. The author's words were lovely and enchanting. Beautiful descriptions and metaphors! And the four siblings lived up to their name, the immortalists. Their depth, passion, and lives brought magic to each page. There were bittersweet elements and sadness in the story, but that is a true portrayal of life. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to reading more by Beathan.

The best book I've listen for a long time.

This book has everything: superb plot, realistic dialogue and a connection with the reader that makes a novel worthwhile. I have purchased the author's first book and am planning to read it next.

Nice unusual story

Struggled a little at the end but did like the story from the start. Each child and their story. And is it destiny or self fulfilling prophecy?

Great book to listen- for the open minded.

The Immortalists was a great story with reality woven into the characters future. It melded their past with their future and came to a surprising end.
