The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brené Brown| Book Summary | Readtrepreneur

With the advent of social media, we are bombarded by the messages they give out every day. What people tell us to be and what we see around us become our ideals and who we think we're supposed to be.

Many of us strive to show the best images of ourselves to others to receive acceptance and fit in. However, all these creates a temporary sense of belonging that only leaves us feeling more empty and unworthy at the end of the day.

"You can't get to courage without walking through vulnerability." (Brené Brown)

In this book Brené Brown teaches us how to lead a wholehearted life and to be happy and that one does not need to be perfect. It all lies in our state of mind and how we view ourselves. We will learn how to overcome the common feelings many of us face when we feel inadequate and rise better and stronger after that.

PS - this is an important book that will change your life for the better with 10 guideposts as you realize how insignificant other people's view of you are and learn to believe in your own worthiness.

Learn to improve yourself!

I connected with Brene's personal stories and for the first time, felt some relief from the painful thought of "why am I like this?" I appreciated the way she took time to define each abstract word, such as love, joy, and play. Thank you for your passionate work and your commitment to healing people, one wholehearted person at a time.

Struggling to stay awake

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I love Brene Brown's work. I believe it's for any one who is searching for whole-hearted living. If you're into barebones information, great.

What didn’t you like about Patricia Morris’s performance?

I was expecting Sparkling Grape Juice and received water instead. Fundamental and hydrating, but no sparkle.

holds the secret to our success.

Just as I’ve expected. The moment I saw this on the market, I knew it was an intriguing one. It holds the secret to our success as our imperfections are usually the ones hindering us to do so.

Developing our shame resilience

On ordinary circumstances, I would have fallen asleep as the narrator’s voice was quite monotone. But the said audiobook has compelling summary ideas of the original book, The Gifts of Imperfection that I was able to finish the book. Developing our shame resilience is really a challenge, but it’s possible with the help of this book.
