From the duo behind the massively successful and award-winning podcast Stuff You Should Know comes an unexpected look at things you thought you knew.

Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant started the podcast Stuff You Should Know back in 2008 because they were curious - curious about the world around them, curious about what they might have missed in their formal educations, and curious to dig deeper on stuff they thought they understood.

As it turns out, they aren't the only curious ones. They've since amassed a rabid fan base, making Stuff You Should Know one of the most popular podcasts in the world. Armed with their inquisitive natures and a passion for sharing, they uncover the weird, fascinating, delightful, or unexpected elements of a wide variety of topics.

The pair has now taken their near-boundless "whys" and "hows" to the chapters of an audiobook for the first time - featuring a completely new array of subjects that they’ve long wondered about and wanted to explore. Follow along as the two dig into the underlying stories of everything from the origin of Murphy beds, to the history of facial hair, to the psychology of being lost.

Have you ever wondered about the world around you and wished to see the magic in everyday things? Come get curious with Stuff You Should Know. With Josh and Chuck as your guide, there’s something interesting about everything (...except maybe jackhammers).

Fails as an audio book.

Although I am a fan of the podcast, I can't say the same for this book. I'll be honest and to the point. The reading by Josh and Chuck themselves is not great. The material is what you would expect and somewhat entertaining. I would say that at best, this would make a good coffee table book. The multiple references to the podcast is off putting as well. I had hoped for a stand alone book, This is an awkward, long, unfunny podcast episode. Sorry guys.

Revisionist history at it's worst.

I have many issues with this book, but the basic flaw is simple researcher bias. The title should be "What We Think You Should Know and How We Think You Should Think". This is knowledge compiled for followers, and I just unfollowed.

Oral version of Bathroom Reader w probably even less research

Slightly amusing, slightly accurate, not worth the credit.
Basic statistic formulas and proofing are ignored for sensationalism.

Mediocre

It’s stuff you likely already know. Very little is important or not common knowledge. The part on mezcal was interesting and the part on aging (although I personally already knew about it), but the rest was a waste of time. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Just simply great

As a long time listener I was a podcast, the book was simply great and what really added to it was both reading it so it felt like an extended podcast.

Chuck Zarza’s Review

Josh and Chuck continue their great stories and humor in this book. The topics were broad, which maybe they could have been more focused on topic selection. I particularly liked the being lost, Kamikaze, and gun history sections. I also liked the added sections they had for audiobook listeners. I hope they keep cranking out books.

Interesting but probably better as a podcast

The topics are interesting but the reading is very halting when compared to their podcast. This audiobook can be a little painful to listen to.

Lovely

More from the SYSK gang in a neat package, with a similar energy to the podcast but with a bit of audio book formating and magic.
