Publisher's summary

America’s Got Talent host and comic personality Terry Crews and his wife, singer Rebecca King Crews, share the staggering ups and downs of their relationship and how they weathered the myriad crises that have rocked their marriage.

In a unique narrative, Stronger Together begins on the day everything fell apart. In their own voices, Terry and Rebecca recount D-Day, as they call it - the moment that Terry admitted his unfaithfulness and addiction to porn, and Rebecca told him not to come home. Charting a course back to their earliest days, each one shares more about their difficult childhoods. Growing up in Flint with a devout mother and abusive father, Terry became fascinated by superheroes, landed a career in the NFL, then in Hollywood, while hiding an addiction to porn that fueled a toxic masculinity that led to that awful day. Rebecca, whose father died when she was a child, recounts being the only biracial child in Gary, Indiana, her passion for singing, her early pregnancy, her devotion to God, and her blind faith in Terry despite the challenges of being an NFL wife, her passion for motherhood, and the emotional pain when Terry’s hidden addiction was exposed.

As they share their journey, the mistakes they made, the moments that shifted their worlds, and ultimately, what put them back together, they provide hope, reflection and comfort. In this audiobook, you will also hear the kindness in their voices, and what it sounds like to have a partner who truly listens, respects and loves. The book includes a final coda about the year 2020 when the couple endured Rebecca’s breast cancer diagnosis and controversy around Terry’s social media comments.

Honest, intimate and filled with hope, Terry and Rebecca make you feel if they can survive it, you and your partner can, too.

About the Co-creator and Performer

Can women really have it all? A successful marriage, family, and Hollywood career? If you are Rebecca Crews, then yes! She is an actor, speaker, and musician who is happy to be a mother of five kids and the wife of actor and former NFL player Terry Crews. As an executive producer for both TV and film, she has crossed the threshold into controlling her own image and content. Her family’s successful show, The Family Crews, was BET’s No. 1 New Original Program two years in a row. She brought faith-based programming to a new place—right in the middle of the marketplace.
Humorous, yet practical, she is a sought-after speaker and lecturer on topics ranging from marriage and dating to careers and finances. She brings insight to her audiences with a dose of faith. She intimately shares her life story and how she has trusted God through her difficulties and storms. Her many testimonies cover, loss, tragedy, financial hardship, and success, as well as marital struggles and overcoming grief. Born in the 1960s to an interracially married couple in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and raised in Gary, Indiana, she also has lots to say about race in America.
Like other great women in media (Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa Williams), Rebecca was a beauty queen and was crowned Miss Gary Indiana 1984, through the Miss America Pageant System. But she isn’t just a pretty face; she was a National Merit Scholar and attended Western Michigan University on scholarship and also earned a scholarship from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. At WMU, she studied musical theater, appearing in over 20 productions.
Rebecca’s seventh single “What Do You Wanna Do?,” is an R&B sensation, already picking up radio play and in the top 30 R&B songs in the country.

Very Honest

Stronger Together is an honest account of a Hollywood couple who’s marriage has endured the test of time and made it through what many marriages go through. It was a story of struggles, mistakes and victories. I listened to the entire book on the first day I bought it. It was great to hear Terry and Rebecca’s story in their own words told in their own voices. You will appreciate this book!

A Sermon Walking

My writer/poet uncle used to tell us “ It is good to hear a sermon (talking), but more profound to ‘see’ a sermon walking. Thank you Terry and Rebecca for ‘ walking’ the walk. Your example is so inspirational.

Amazing

To take serious, real life matters and have them laid bare, and then to still feel uplifted at the end... It’s like a breath of fresh air, the scent of flowers blooming in spring.

There is so much venom in the world, this book is a welcome respite from the trials and tribulations of daily life. A wonderful piece of work that challenges the mind to think about the world we live in through a lens of optimism and hope. That no matter the challenge you face, there is light and goodness, that there can be positive change.

So often these days fear is everywhere, division, and mistrust. This is about healing and self reflection, and it brought me to tears of joy.

Thank you

Dual narration too annoying & distracting

Both Rebecca and Terry Crews are excellent speakers. Would have enjoyed a book read by either of them individually or switching off for chapters maybe, but the switching back and forth was ANNOYING!!! Could not make it.

heartfelt but I didn't love the vibe

These authors definitely went for it and made themselves vulnerable but I think Terry conceded too much. I think he took too much blame for the relationship and Rebecca seemed cold.

Must listen for those in marriage struggles and those without. Great book.

For those who are married this is a must listen, absolute game changer for those who are going to make the most of their marriage.

This book speaks that in order for true intimacy you must be fully known to be fully loved. Often we hide the dirty 10% but you’ll never feel fully content and fulfilled in our marriages without be painfully open. It’s God’s design to forgive, fight for, and accept the whole person just like he’s has for us.

I love how this book aligns with a lot of my views and has challenged me as a man to give my wife what she needs, to be honest with myself enough to put barriers in place, and to know that she is worth all of it.

For those thinking there is greener grass just remember they came and painted it yesterday.

Great story but just a common sense preach

While I liked the performances of both Terry & Rebecca and their courage to bring up readers/listeners so close to their personal lives, it felt to me like a preach of basic common sense rules of living together and an extrapolation of the couple's problem into a bigger life lesson. I like the learnings but I'm not sure they are entirely relevant to a life with a partner.
Had bigger expectations.
