In a novel that could have been pulled from today’s headlines, Dr. Tom Barrett, respected surgeon and returning war veteran, discovers the practices of some unscrupulous executives in the American pharmaceutical industry. Barrett’s answer is to assemble a team to take on the predators. He creates PharmaTruth, a diverse non-profit group of motivated patient advocates whose mission is to battle cynical big pharma and those executives who have long ago crossed the line from greedy to criminal.
In sections taking listeners behind the scenes of the industry, PharmaTruth workers find citizens with real-life experiences who are willing to bear witness in this challenge.

A timely, notable and enjoyable novel
Strong Medicine, the most recent novel by Robert M. Reece, MD, is another notable addition to Dr. Reece’s portfolio and an enjoyable book to read. The main plot of the book, which involves devious business practices in the pharmaceutical industry similar to those reported by the news media in recent years, makes Strong Medicine a timely story. Dr. Reece is quite a talented writer. Sometimes I have trouble following the subplots and characters in a novel and find myself going back to reread sections, but not this book! It caught my interest from the very beginning and held it all the way through.
