Publisher's summary

Strivings Within takes the reader through the personal journey of the author as she shares her transparent account of her struggle with Anxiety Disorders. This book will resonate with those who suffer from OCD in such a way that they will feel as though Mitzi has written some of their own story. Strivings Within takes the reader from a pain-filled and confusing experience to enlightenment hope and purpose. It is very difficult for the Christian to reconcile the experience of intense anxiety to the life of faith. That can’t happen until the sufferer realizes that they have a valid but very manageable disorder. Strivings Within is a must read for the Christian who is afflicted with OCD, as well as for those who love them.

Very helpful

The author's descriptions ring true, because I have also wrestled with anxiety and the antagonistic, compulsive thoughts that she describes. I did not know about "pure 'O'," nor about "religious OCD." I suspect those would apply to my own anxious thoughts and feelings. The account of their dog, Patch, is very insightful as an analogy, too.

I must put in a good word for the Virtual Voice. I am very impressed with the AI here. Aside from a few mispronunciations (Job is supposed to be pronounced "jobe," not like a teen's summer employment), the voice sounded very real. The voice sounded like a Black woman, with an occasional slight rasp, like when a person has been reading alound for a while. Inflection sounded remarkably appropriate, and contributed positively to my listening experience. I enjoyed listening to this book for both the pleasant auditory experience and the helpful content.

If #VirtualVoice will permit even more books to be listened to, I can see this being of tremendous benefit for sooo many people! (E.g., blind or otherwise visually impaired; people with ADHD who have a hard time focusing on reading; people who like to listen to books while exercising, doing chores, or during commutes...)
