“The plot twists ingeniously...an engaging, often chilling book.” - The New York Times Book Review

A writer in California. A doctor in Boston. A motel owner and his employee in Nevada. A priest in Chicago. A robber in New York. A little girl in Las Vegas. They’re a handful of people from across the country, living through eerie variations of the same nightmare.

A dark memory is calling out to them. And soon they will be drawn together, deep in the heart of a sprawling desert, where the terrifying truth awaits...

Best Koontz book ever

This is great entertainment! The characters are interesting and well-developed. The dialog flows easily and enhances the story, and it is read beautifully, each character with a distinct voice. The plot has many twists and turns that keep you wanting more. A great read.

A good listen

This is a very long book, but the fact that it was a good one, it being long was a bonus. The characters are interesting and diverse, but not as interesting as those found in Odd Thomas or Christopher Snow and his pals. This is worth a listen.

Not my favorite Koontz Book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. My friends are all Christians. This book has more profanity than other Koontz books I've read. It's also sacreligious to mix Christianity and science fiction.

Would you be willing to try another book from Dean Koontz? Why or why not?

yes

What aspect of Dick Hill’s performance would you have changed?

he did OK.

Could you see Strangers being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It could be but I wouldn't go see it so it wouldn't matter who played in it.

Any additional comments?

It is too long and drawn out.

Anti-climactic

While very well written, the story was slow going. The build up to something exciting and possibly terrifying was for nothing. I figured out the antagonist quickly and just waited to see how it would finally be revealed. I’m a little bummed I spent so much time listening to something that left me disappointed due to the lack of a big ending.

Narrator drives me nuts

This is a great story, typical of Dean Koontz but the narrator makes every character sound like Shecky Green. Also his female voices sound really absurd. Aside of that I highly recommend the book!

Strangers by Dean Koontz

Typical of Dean, lots of great detail about the characters and keeps you guessing right up until the very end. Older book, but a good listen.

The Dean Koontz I Miss

I read this in paperback when I was a teen and loved it. Seeing it on Audible, I was so excited to listen to the audio version. It did not disappoint. One of his absolute best and it makes me miss this style of writing. I’ve tried getting into his current books, and nothing grips like his earlier writings. Happy I can listen to them now!

A Masterwork of a story

This is a great story. There are many characters so be sure to listen carefully and memorize them as you go and you will enjoy it as much as i did. It is long, which is a plus in my opinion, but persevere and you will be richly rewarded. The scary part of this book is that its not as far fetched as you might expect from other works by this author and you find yourself wondering seriously if events such as take place in this book could really happen. If you are interested in government conspiracy and area 51 this is definitely going to draw you in.

meh

not my favorite Koontz book. it was painfully slow to get moving and the big plot reveal was so absurdly obvious that it was almost comical how much they avoided revealing it to drum up fake suspense until the last few hours.

id pass on this one unless you are just an ate up Koontz fan
