Charles’ adventures begin as he takes his newest employee, Birch Newsome, on a tour of his hotels and food stores.
Charles discovers that his ranch managers in Moultrie, Georgia, have hired a young man whose brother and Uncle were the first serial killers of Colorado, and due to his brother and uncle being killed and spoken of cruelly, he is angry and plans to murder all the employees on the ranches in Moultrie. Charles must get there before his employees are murdered in a gruesome manner.
Chalres’ trip to handle an angry rancher near Kansas City that is holding up railroad track construction evolves into a major purchase and the beginning of a significant investment.
Chalres’ adventure continues to New York, where his daughter, Judy, attending college, has an important decision to discuss with Charles and Judith.
Charles and the family return to Philadelphia, where Charles must deal with the father of a school bully at his son’s school.
