Too much rhetoric

I bought this audiobook to get an overview of current issues in education reform. Instead way too much of this book is an overwrought polemic against a cast of evil characters bent on destroying American public school education. The ratio of rhetoric to useful information is hugely skewed. This is unfortunate because the author has a valuable vantage point on education reform, having served as an educator and in a variety of important policy oriented positions. And I should say that I'm generally sympathetic to his perspective. when he stops excoriating and just discusses an issue, the content is informative. But that is just way too small a portion of the book.
