Absolute truth!

If you could sum up Stop Walking on Eggshells in three words, what would they be?

So much information!

Who was your favorite character and why?

It was mainly a self help book

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Learning I was not alone.

Any additional comments?

I recommend it for family, patients, anyone wanting to know more about BPD. It's a horrible disease and I as a patient, also living with someone with BPD and had a mother withBPD. It was very informative. VERY INFORMATIVE

Occasionally A Book Is Like an Epiphany. 2nd Ed Is

Would you consider the audio edition of Stop Walking on Eggshells to be better than the print version?

Take care the first time you listen!
It is very captivating to have your experiences validated and be given skills to limit those experiences.
Driving is not the time to be staring at your audio player saying 'that is so true'.
3 months latter I'm still as excited as when I first listened to this Audio-Book.

If you are new to this book Part 1 will Captivate you (as it did me a few years ago).
If you've read the 1st Edition, Part 2 will bowl you over.

What other book might you compare Stop Walking on Eggshells to and why?

A few times in your life you read a book that's like an epiphany. This is one of them.
(Part 1 of the 1st Ed also did this to me)

Which scene was your favorite?

Part 2 Lean the skills to live your life. Boundaries aren't just for BPD's but relevant when dealing with any difficult person.

Any additional comments?

Part 2 of this 2d Edition is so relevant to everyday life, not just dealing with BPD sufferers. If you read the First Edition, you are in for a treat. So much more information and it's so relevant to today, tomorrow and the future.
I purchased it to brush up & found Part 2 of the second Edition so good I bought paper backs for some friends. A must read (listen).

Everyone should listen to this book

If you could sum up Stop Walking on Eggshells in three words, what would they be?

Amazing, Needed, Healing

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that I know there are other people who have felt what I am feeling and who have found a way to have a relationship with someone with BPD without losing themselves in the process.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She definitely helps to set a tone that isn't always serious. When dealing with difficult personalities, you must have a sense of humor and this book definitely made me laugh out loud more than once.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Whenever the author discussed that how a BPD loved one acts is not your fault. That you are not a bad person and are not the cause of their pain and anguish. I broke down and cried because I needed to hear that.

Any additional comments?

I got more out of listening to this book the second time. The first time I was just thinking of situations I had been through that were similar but the second time I absord a lot more of the advice and listened slowly.

Great primer to understand BPD

What did you love best about Stop Walking on Eggshells?

Helped me understand someone I love, and how my reactions can help or make things worse. I want to hear more about DBT, what i am told is the best treatment for BPD.

Informative and empowering information.

Would you listen to Stop Walking on Eggshells again? Why?

After the first read, I was able to identify traits of BP. After the second read, I began understanding why BPs are as they are. The appendix is awesome in its self. I plan on reading this book again. It seems that I learn many new topics with each read.

Really clears things up

After having a relationship with someone with BPD, it really made everything make sense.
I never even knew what really was until this book, which really had me saying "yes, that's it exactly" over and over. It helped clear up so many issues that were still standing out in my memory and make sense of it all.

The one book I wished I had gotten hold of before entering in a BP relationship

I stumble across this book as my bdp fiancée moved out and away all the way across the country. I had no knowledge about this condition but the occasional name heard here and there.
There was so many things about my fiancée of 3 years that I would not know how to deal with.
I defined it as double standard. Then it became her standard. At last, there were no more common sense. I was to blame for everything gone wrong in our relationship.
This book revealed so much to me. Had I not discovered it, I would had moved on and continue seeing me as the fault.
Now, I understand and recognize the patterns I felt for.
Best, I am now equipped with understanding and techniques to hopefully try to help and even possibly restore and heal a relationship that was otherwise hopeless and felt completely helpless.
I love this amazing woman I met 3 years ago. Even more than ever. Now, I can only hope to have the opportunity to work in our issues and, if progress is made, possibly reunite and be together again one day.
And if not, I will have processed so much that I would have otherwise just buried in my heart.

Saved my BPD daughters life!

Reading this book has helped me understand why my daughter behaves the way she does, how she’s feeling and how to better communicate with her. Following a crisis several weeks ago I used the techniques learnt in this book to defuse a situation, which led to a positive outcome. Had it not have been for the techniques I’d learnt the situation would have been very different!

Kind of hostile book which presents little care or understanding of bpd

Started well showing some compassion and understanding but quickly became a highly patronising book which I am sure would damage relationships with someone who has borderline. Avoid.

essential info on BPD

essential but aimed quite clearly at people in NON CHOSEN relationships with BPD s. (parents, syblings etc). maybe the title should be 'how to KEEP walking on eggshells'
too much consideration given to the bpds themselves and not enough to the victims of these extremely selfish monsters.
still, very powerful insights.

Not just for those who have a BPD in their life

I use and recommend this book all the time, not just for people trying to find ways of getting along with borderline personality disorder person in your life but also anyone whom you are finding difficult to get along with. The advice on Boundary setting; listening and paraphrasing; and setting limits is pure gold for improving your conflict management skills. Very helpful for people who are in emotional abusive relationships also.
