Publisher's Summary

From the author of the New York Times and international best seller Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop presents a no-holds-barred guide to breaking through our cycles of self-sabotage to get what we want out of life.

In Unfu*k Yourself, Gary John Bishop told us it was time to stop making excuses - to recognise and take responsibility for the negative self-talk holding us back.

In Stop Doing That Sh*t, he builds on that message, teaching us how to stop self-sabotaging behaviour. Bishop explains how our destructive cycles come down to the way that we’re wired. He then identifies different types of people and the ways we fu*k ourselves over: we can’t save money. We land in the same type of toxic relationship. We’re stuck in a rut at work. Analysing why we act the way we do, including what our common grenades are that blow up our lives, Bishop then shows how we can interrupt the cycle and stop self-sabotaging our lives.

Written in the same in-your-face style as Unfu*k Yourself, Stop Doing that Sh*t will help us get in touch with our psychological machinery so we learn to interrupt negative thoughts and behaviour before they start, allowing us to give our attention to something else and start to find success in the areas we thought we never could.

We can take back our lives. We may have fu*ked up in the past, but Stop Doing That Sh*t will show us how to break the patterns in order to live the lives we yearn to have.

This is REAL advice!

This is the first book that I’ve felt has put the finger on the true key of personal development and growth. Everything else is either BS or good books to become more organized and efficient!
This books addresses the core of every person’s problem for not fulfilling their potential.
Strongly recommend!

Totally kicks ass (hopefully yours)

At first I found Bishop’s choice to Narrate this book himself interesting after he chose Angus King to narrate the last one. I know it’s totally subjective, but as a native, and current resident, of Scotland I found King’s voice more familiar and subsequently pleasing to listen to, as opposed to Bishop’s hybrid American-Scottish tones. It’s the difference between listening to Billy Connolly Vs Gerald Butler. On finishing the book, I’ve changed my mind on this & appreciate the author’s passion & conviction which come through in abundance, and I’m not convinced someone else could pull that off as well if it wasn’t their material.

This book, like the last, pulls no punches & is exactly what I needed, and will continue to need, to hear. This will be reread multiple times, hopefully soon. Will definitely be recommending this to others, it’s like have your own private therapy session with a master who isn’t shy to tell you what you need to here!

Please read this book.

Gary pulls no punches, and wow, how he hits home! This is one of the most powerful ‘listen to’ books that I’ve experienced on Audible. I know I will listen to it time and time again because I need help freeing myself from my old ingrained opinions about myself and the world. But how wonderfully did he explain the ‘thrown’ part of our belief about life!!! That has changed the way I see everything. Thank you Gary.
