Stolen Cars

Nick just wants to be left alone to do his job as a bartender in a small-town bar called The Hard Right, but people rarely get what they hope for in life. Standing behind the bar, pouring beers, and wiping mugs should be mundane and peaceful, but the weathered oak door swings open every night to needy, wanting characters who simply want somewhere to be. The one-legged owner mourning the loss of his wife, Nick's high school friend who can't get out of his own way, the unnamed patron with a round dent in his forehead and scars on his knuckles who quote Machiavelli and the Bible, Nick's married ex-girlfriend who visits in the dark of the night, and the regulars at the men's table all share part of their lives in The Hard Right until one night when the door bursts open and a stranger stumbles in soaking wet and on the run. Everyone's lives change and they learn more about each other than they ever knew before.
