Easy to understand, easier to implement!

A fantastic book that will get your mind in the right place and allow you to establish your place in the world. It helped me pause and reflect and then pivot on many of the things in life. It helped me decide to move forward full force in opening my own company, now and not later. It helped me get over fear and understand we can only control our own reasoned choice. It helps you in so many ways become armed with what it takes to be a good person.
At the end, I do believe what they say. Enough reading, it is time to turn words into works!
Be a good person, do your part to contribute to the world.

Not totally terrible

The narrator pauses in unnatural places and reads each sentence as though it’s the only sentence in the paragraph. It was hard to listen around that, his mispronunciation, unnatural inflection, and emphasis on the wrong syllables in common words.

Some of the issue is that the author also writes like he’s a blogger, with wordy sentences and an overly conversational tone. “No, it doesn’t mean you should shoot heroin because you’re going to die anyway,” is one of the weirder things he says, but this sort of baseless drivel is common when authors have run out of things to say and are just stuffing words.

My biggest problem with the book is that it lacks actionable information. For example, it talks about the value of a daily practice but gives no information on what it should contain. It feels more like a book that talks around stoicism and is collected from material he read online than a book written by someone who practices stoicism and has valuable insight.

If you look at all of the Audible books on stoicism, you can clearly see that they have fake reviews. This one is no exception, and while it’s not super awesome, it didn’t totally suck. There are a handful of good principles thrown in that are basic, obvious principles for positive interaction with the world and its people, but it was nice to have them collected under a common topic for once. I learned that much of what I do naturally is in line with stoicism, which makes it easier to work on the few things where I struggle.

I don’t feel like the book was a waste of time or a credit, but I desperately hope that there’s something better out there.

Helps you live a happier life.

I have heard many self help speakers and listen many books. I had also heard a lot about Stoicism which from day one impacted me more than anything else in the past. Now coming across this book was a pleasure and a blessing in itself.Author was able to concise centuries of such wonderful philosophies in one book where he makes it easy to see it through his eyes and understand the essence of what being a stoic is all about.

heavily on philosophical history

There is a wide range of Stoicism books out there. Most are boring and are either weighted too heavily on philosophical history or simply not entertaining tolisten ..present a work that is, dare I say it..., fun to listen. Hell, they even have doodle drawings. The down to earth explanations of not only Stoicism but the practical ways to implement it is welcoming

The Red Stoic

This is a must read for young men in these sensitive times in our country. Practicing these methods will give anyone a sound foundation to strengthen their inner person in learning how to embrace change and use conflict for growth and not for a reason to be destructive.

Great read. Thank you Audible

Absolutely good book on Stoicism

Good listen , it’s the first book I’ve listen on stoicism so I can’t make comparisons to others, but a great introduction to stoicism. Got me very curious about stoicism, and has convinced me that indoctrinating stoic principles into someone's life could drastically improve their quality of life.
Would highly recommend it to anyone just looking into stoicism.

Great book, awful narration

Book was informative and well written but the narration was poorly done, full of pauses where the narrator thought how to pronounce a word and the mispronounced it. Audio quality was also noticably poor, sounded like the tech had the gain too high or the narrator was far too close to the microphone. Overall you would do better to read this one.

It came just in time

I've been home with sciatica pain for the past couple weeks and this book spoke directly to me. It reinforced that the stoic philosophy best suits my life and way of thinking. I am now one step closer to embracing the life. Thanks for the coping mechanisms shared.

Interesting journey

I happened to receive this book at just the right time. When, "helpful" friends, where giving me lots of harmful advice on how to handle a situation, including that I should be tougher, meaner, etc. This book helps one to keep their cool when addressing stressful situations. Keeping yourself in the driver's seat, and not getting upset. But, handling things smoothly. And, realizing what you can and can't control. Helped me in dealing more calmly with a painful, confrontational situation. And by ignoring other peoples' advice, that was only stirring up more drama, emotion, and less control of the situation.

I would recommend to everyone

I would recommend to everyone interested in learning about this seemingly smart way to live. I felt that this audiobook contains a rich core, bookended by some boring and repetitive parts.

Valuable and deserving of consideration!

Prescribed! The Stoicism Motivational book is audible as a historical document outlining the birth of stoicism and its practice in Western culture, while at the same time, teaching the tenants of its philosophy in clear, everyday English.

Read this!

An astonishingly composed manual for Stoic standards presented on the peruser while simultaneously following the life (and possible demise) of Marcus Aurelius. An absolute necessity read for any individual who wishes to find out about Stoicism and how it affected one of the best Roman sovereigns.

terrible voice recording sounds computer generated

When will authors stop avoiding reading their own books. Blown away by how they can trust such an important job to someone with little or no empathy for the content. Will definitely struggle to finish this one
