Fascinating as usual

Yet when I’ve finally got around to read it, I still find this humbly priced little book just as fascinating.

Andrew draws me in again with his signature direct and concise writing style, and rich, highly informative contents. I have been trading lightly for 3+ years and yet could not put this book down.

A high IQ multi-millionaire friend recently lost $4000+ trading penny stocks. Wish he had read this book earlier!

Wonderful book

I have read several of Andrew Anderson's books. This book is an excellent guide for beginners, and even for investors who have casually invested into stock market , but didn't get full understanding of how the stock market works, and many acronyms and definitions that come with it.

It gives an excellent overview of several different strategies that a novice investor could use.

A must read guide for a newbie/beginner

Another great book by Andrew which is very simple and straight forward. Any new beginner or newbie should read this guide to know the dynamics of the market and to get a better understanding of how stock market works. The content is simple, precise and includes examples that will clearly explain you about the stock market. There are various strategies that are explained. Pick one that works for you & stick to it with a long term view & discipline.

Beginners View

This book is a beginner book, if you are searching for more in-depth processes then buy Matt’s other individual process trading books. I really like how Matt talks about getting to a point of investing/trading with many different techniques but you must pick one to start and master.

It's helpful to remember the stock!

It's helpful to remember the stock market is like a cat. Very independent by nature and will do what it wants to do, not what you call or try to make it do. As Matt describes it: "... Many people like to yell at the stock market and tell it what to do.

"The stock market is a complex emergent system. It won't listen to you or to anyone else..."

That's why you must not only learn its characteristics, you must learn how to think for yourself, as well as heed the warnings and the helpful dos and don'ts contained in "A Beginner's Guide to the Stock Market." It's provides an excellent starting point -- and reminders for the experienced -- towards that goal of "financial fishing" in the stock market pool and netting those financial rewards with the least amount of risk. Important too, especially for the beginner, how and where to start. (Rating 5 stars; Kindle book given me for review.)

Great book!

I had my doubts about this but I found this to be a really good book. It captures a lot of essential information for people getting started in trading stocks. I've probably read about 50 books on trading over the years, a lot of what is in some of those books is useless in today's trading environment. This book distills out the important information and tells you what to do, and more importantly, what not to do. It won't guarantee trading success but it will definitely put you on the right track.

Disclosure: I got this book and i loved it that's why i write a review.

Great for one that knows none

Decent book, learned a few things mainly the very very basics of stock market investing though. That being said it is a beginners guide. I gave it four stars because it could’ve included more information.

Extremely knowledgeable author with great advice

I was going to re-read A Random Walk Down Wall Street when Amazon recommended this book. A friend of mine had just mentioned Author and the fact that he had founded Vanguard. I highly respect Vanguard and found the advice in this book simple to follow, well researched, and justified extremely well. A great read for all investors.

Nice and simple

I've talked to many people and spent a great deal of time researching stocks and bonds; this book takes all the complexity out and shows you how to do well with almost no investment of time. This is one of my all time favorite books in terms of usefulness.

Investing Wisdom

He repeats himself a lot at the beginning of the book, but it gets better. Maybe the best book on investing I've ever read. However, I would recommend also using this with a good charting book, so when you buy your low-fee Vanguard funds, you don't buy them at the wrong time and make less money than you would have if you were more careful.

Very informative

An excellent book for the beginning or more experienced investor. It covers all necessary topics in a thorough, easy to understand, way. It left me wanting to read more! Explains what I’ve been needing to on w, but didn’t realize. We are sadly not well enough informed. This book has changed my understanding with clarity and some fun humor. Great read!

Perfect for the uneducated.

I came into this book with zero knowledge on investing. I’m a transit bus driver with a retirement account, but I wanted to learn to supplement that. I feel this book really helped even though there were something’s I had to google.

Buy Vanguard Index Funds - The founder of Vanguard

I first heard of this book from a finance professor that mentioned it when we were going over mutual funds. If author himself, creator of Vanguard, doesn't help you come to your senses about how to invest properly, then the many successful investors that are quoted in the book, such as billionaire Warren Buffett, will definitely help guide you and explain why index funds are a sure way to growing wealthy over the decades.

Easy common sense investing often overlooked

Listen it, act, or forget it, like many other truths you have ever read. Amazingly clear and easy to understand, yet mostly ignored advice. It may be the last book on investing you may ever have to read.
